Sanabria seemed to really care about students and their progression through the material. I was a bit nervous considering other reviews but they are completely unwarranted. Read, write your heart out, and don't be afraid to really express what you think and ask the difficult questions. Sanabria is super supportive.

I am still haunted by how much reading he assigns. I have never been assigned so much reading as an undergrad. I still have hate dreams about this guy because I hate him so much. Please take another class!

Too much reading. Condescending. Decent lectures, but he is often late and disorganized. Has a strange understanding of what a thesis is. Unless you are willing to ignore all your other classes, expect a C at best. Seems more interested in his own work than in teaching the class.

Took history of sport thinking it would be interesting, however, it was pretty boring with him. He's an okay lecturer and nice guy but assigned a ridiculous amount of books to read. He was also a pretty tough grader.

Good expert in his field but too hard professor even for international students. He sometimes forgets that people have more homekork to do. I won't take more of his classes.

Lots and lots of reading! Not a very good lecturer. Stumbles a lot with his words. Tries to use big words, but gets tongue tied. Lots of reading.

Sanabria stumbles over his words, but is knowledgeable. The course is essentially 3 exams (final included), discussion lab, and an essay; reading is required so try Greek mythology if you want an easy humanities. I personally recommend you just buy "sources of the making of the west volume I" (lysistrata is at the library!) and do the 1st paper.

Prof. Sanabria is a great lecturer and he is an expert on history. He has a pretty good sense of humor and if you work hard in his class you will learn a lot. It is imperative that you take accurate, complete notes because this is where the test questions come from.

This teacher is way too hard. Too much reading and the exams barely reflect anything in the reading or discussion. He has graded essays presented in the class not on the content, but on the structure of the essay. I have failed a test because he didnt like the way I wrote my essay instead of giving credit for the correct content.

Like someone said this class requires a discussion section. Besides that the teacher is a good lecturer, but if you aren't into the subject you might find him boring.

Adequate lecturer if I am prepared for the class. Is very helpful during office hours. The recitation sections outside of the lectures are what I make them.

dont take western civilizations until 1648. his class requires a discussion lab so be aware of that. I did not like the class and i didnt think he was a very good teacher. if you do take his class BE SURE TO READ EACH ASSIGNMENT. he gives at least 150 pages of reading. his tests are a very weird format. you HAVE to write a paper...do the first one.

We read at least 250 pages/week, but he didn't keep up with the information in his lectures. Although he was constantly behind, we were required to remember tiny details from every page of the readings, and he would spring pop papers on us. He tried to shove too much info into one class, and he was mean about answering questions.

Prof. Sanabria has been the best professor I've had at UNM. His lectures are always clear, concise and supplement the read well. His grading is always fair and he's always willing to help with what ever questions students have.

As mentioned previously, Sanabria isn't comfortable speaking. In addition, I found his unwillingness to let me approach the assignments from a different stance aggravating, especially when other professors encouraged it. His attendance policy is fairly lax, but I studied and used my notes almost primarily, completing maybe 5% of all assigned re

The class is pretty easy but pretty much pointless. If you read the book then you'll do well in his class. He does not speak well and tries to speak down to the class since he assumes everyone is unintelligent. If you read the book you'll get an easy A or you'll fall asleep in class.
