I am transfering to Hofstra soon (yeah!) and was coming online to check out the professors but I wanted to write a review of Professor Turhan. English Lit I was my favorite class this semester. The texts were wonderful, sometimes hard, but she always made them accessible and fun. I wish I was staying at suffolk for Eng Lit II with her too!

Comment:

This professor will make you understand why coming to Suffolk is a great choice. The classes are a good size and you get great help from the faculty who really care about you. Prof. Turhan runs a fun class and she really helps you to understand the material.

Prof. Turhan is an incredible teacher. Very accessible during and after class. Looks to help students achieve their grades. Gives many opportunities for extra help and credit to have you succeed. She makes you feel very comfortable for all class participation. I strongly recommend you take Prof. Turhan if you have the opportunity. You will do great

Comment:

Hard to get into her class. She's very liberal and won't let you forget it. Dull lectures, hard grading, she'll snap at you in class & embarrass you over very little. I enjoy reading and writing but her class will make you hate both things and getting out of bed to go will feel like walking on nails.

Comment:

Lots of options for extra credit and re-writing essays which is good for me because it's not my strongest thing LOL. I learned a lot by reading books and stories from around the world which lets face it is pretty important these days if you don't want to be a total ignoramus. As other people wrote, she uses Blackboard a lot which was great for me.

I really enjoyed this class. Prof. Turhan was so helpful. I was late to the exam because of work and she let me write the exam in her office the next day! I will be moving on to Stony Brook next yaer and I know this class helped to prepare me for that next level of work.

Online class; you have to participate in the discussions weekly, but it's all posted on the first day so I planned ahead for everything (otherwise I procrastinate!). I took another online class and the professor seemed kind of absent. Prof. Turhan grades everything quickly and always responded to my emails with a day or so. Earned an A.

Comment:

Prof Turhan's class was very good. The readings were decent and there was lots of help writing the papers. She gives time in class to do the writing plus I went to her office for a little extra help. After a ten minute conversation I had a thesis and ended up getting an A in the whole class. Very happy!

The lectures were very helpful. The readings were a little hard for me but she puts lots of stuff online to help you out. She let us use notes for an inclass exam and was very understanding when I forgot my notes she let me do it later in her office. Also gives lots of good counseling if you're looking for other classes to take.

If I could give prof Turhan a negative I would. She is the worst and so rude When askin questions she makes u feel dumb and doesnt answer them. It is always all about her and has zero respect for her students. Not sure why professors like her exist to be honest. Do yourself a favor and do not take her. You will feel talked down to and disrespected.

I took this class in the summer and got an A and I failed it last time with another professor! So glad I found this professor at Suffolk! I actually did the reading too. (i had an easy summer) but I happen to know that she was very flexible with other people and their situations too.

Professor Turhan is great! The class was pretty much: Mostly essay assignments, short response, and quizzes, and readings. Make sure you have the textbook. She was always willing to help with the essays and always gave good feedback. Show up, participate, take the time read, and puts lots of effort and you should do well. She cares for her students

Took this professor for the ENG 102 online and while it's a good amount of work the professor is always willing to put it just as much work as they ask of you. I got a B+ in which I worked for, but could've been an A with a bit more effort.

I love Professor Turhan! She's an amazing teacher who really cares about her students and wants them to do well, which is hard to come by these days. She's friendly and caring and I never felt intimidated to raise my hand and ask a question. I wish I could take her class a million more times but I already got an A. Great professor! Highly recommend

The reading was reasonable. We did presentations which made the class more interesting. She is funny and not too strict. i didn't always get to do the reading but the assignments helped me to stay on schedule mostly and i got a B+ in the end which was really good for me in an English class.

Get ready to work. If your not willing to work I don't suggest taking her. You must read before every class or you will fail and she does give pop quizzes. Your typical no nonsense professor. I recieved a b+ in her class and worked for it! Not a bad professor at all, but she does expect her students to work.
