Honestly, he is very cool and knows what he is talking about. He is passionate on his subject of politics and especially Machiavelli. If your participate in discussions and ask questions for clarity you'll do fine.

I had Professor Rusciano with Professor Oh for Great Ideas I and I would take it again in a heartbeat. They're an awesome pair who have fun while teaching in a discussion format. There are only two exams (a midterm and a final), along with two essays which have very open topics. There is a bit of reading, but for the discussions, Sparknotes works.

Nice guy but be prepared to be talked to sleep every single class. Dude loves to talk. Teaches right from PowerPoint. Not overly difficult just boring.

He's a relatively easy, very good professor. He will teach you a lot without making particularly high demands of you. Show up, listen, take a few notes, read a little of the book, and your experience should be a rewarding one. If you're a total political novice, expect to have to read more and ask more questions, though.

Lectures were mostly chatting about current events, not course material. The mid-term and final exams, which were the majority of the grade, were only a several essay-type questions, each with high point values. Some questions not mentioned in the reading or discussed in lectures. Impossible to get good grade unless lots of background info.

i love rusciano, but HATED this class. i hate numbers and the whole class is statistics. i knew the material in class but the tests were worded poorly and it was difficult to apply the concepts. still got a decent grade and i would definitely take another class with him.

Loved it because i also had him for BHP 100 and knew exactly what to say to get him off topic. loved to watch Bashum. she even helped us to talk him into not having class a couple of times. although when we did listen to him he used the word um waaay too much so you stoppped paying attention again. and he didn't always listen to us. but take it!

So silly. He gets off topic really easy, so much so our class makes a game out of it, and Prof. Basham even joins in sometimes. Its hysterical. Kind of a think before you speak type, though. It's like, he'll say something and the class will go, Was that necessary?

i liked his class as a whole but he is a horrible speaker. he uses the word um and like and repeats himself until he can finish his sentence. it becomes very hard to pay attention. overall though the topics are very interesting but he drag them on and doesnt always let the students contribute.
