I am not a computer major, but I will say there is WAY too much work in this "intro" class. I had more assignments in this class than I did my pathology class. If you love computers and all that goes with them, you will like his class.I do not recommend for non computer majors!

This class is pretty easy, just keep up with your assignments and they basically have you prepared for any tests. The professor was helpful, never had a problem answering questions. Good professor, good class

Comment:

A lot of work and if you aren't a computer major some of it is a little difficult to understand. Big research paper due at the end but overall not a bad course. If you allow enough time and put in some effort, you will get a decent grade. I reccomend taking him for any computer class.

Comment:

A lot of time consuming work but not too difficult. Just make sure you have plenty of time to complete the work. Nice teacher and very helpful, he tries his best to give the highest grade he can as long as you make the effort and follow directions. Their is a lengthy research paper but overall not a hard class.

He is Awesome, he does ask for alot of work but he gives lots of feedback on assignment and gives you multiple chances! LOVED THIS CLASS!!!!

Extremly boring class.. especialy at 8a.m and if you are not a computer major, but you can get a great nap and professor hills is one of the much better teachers for COSC you must write a 6 page essay but it is done in groups when all the other pro. makes you write it on your own!! GET HILLS IF POSSIBLLE!!!

I liked Mr.Hills. If I see him outside of school I would totally have a chat because he is that type of person you could talk to. He is easy to work with.He has his class lectures on blackboard. He does care about his students. If you put in an effort and ask for help when you need it,you can pass the class.He responds to emails quite frequently.

This guy thinks he's an english teacher! He assigns a lot of papers throughout the semester. This is not normal for a computer class. The papers are easy though. Mr. Hills knows his subject matter. I liked his class. I made an A. Great professor!

There are a lot of assignments, but you learn a lot in the process. Not an easy A, but he grades fairly. Exams covered some things I wasn't prepared for. Genuine guy that loves teaching. He's personable and smart. You don't have to be a computer major to get an A. There are easier COSC teachers, but Prof. Hills is really good at what he does.

Comment:

Fabulous professor, and just a really good man. He knows his material and is willing to help you understand it as well. He does assign a research paper, but it was not long, and it helped me understand the history of the computer a little better. He actually cares about his students and will try to help you. I definately recommend him.

He knows the subject matter very well, but I feel that he made the class harder than it had to be (only teacher I've ever heard of who assigns a research paper in a computer science class). The tradeoff is that you will likely learn something.

A bit dry, but he's extremely knowledable and you'll learn alot from him. An excellent choice for programming classes, but non computer science majors taking COSC 1301 would likely find him to be boring.
