I goof off quite a bit in class, and while she is strict; as long as you're paying attention you should have no problem. Her teaching style is solid, and she genuinely does care about your learning. She can sometimes come off as being blunt, but keep in mind the cultural barrier. I've made her laugh so hard she cried. She's good. Give her a chance.

She is strict, but clearly explains the grammar and vocabulary needed. Not an easy A, but if you follow the syllabus and do more than the bare minimum in class, you'll learn a lot.

Comment:

I took 2nd year Japanese with her and am taking 3rd year now. She is very helpful if you have any questions. One thing to keep in mind is that attendance is important so you can practice the material. The course is also based more on speaking and listening than reading and writing.

Nakamura is a great prof. Always willing to give the extra effort to help you learn. Always available to meet with you during office hours. She is also just a really nice person.

Comment:

Very nice teacher and allows for a lot of late assignment leeway. Sometimes is unclear about the lectures. Nakajima is a better at lectures in my opinion. If you put in the effort and try hard I think you can get an A. Grading in the languange classes are subjective at times.

Teacher is very helpful when you need it. She can be unclear at times during a drill session, but is very forgiving if you make mistakes because of it. She's willing to go out of her way to help her students.

Friendly, flexible, and open for questions. If you memorize the CCs and read the book, you should be able to do well =:) She is a little bit confusing at times, though.

I heard stories about her and every story turned out right. She isn't clear and she speaks broken english. Which, doesn't help when you're trying to ask her a question. Their's definetely a lot of out-of-class stuff you have to do. A LOT!

I think she's very helpful, and a very nice lady. She makes us smile and doesn't make you feel (too)stupid if you forget something, or pronounce it wrong (hey, I would laugh too if someone accidently said something funny in English).

Nice lady and she means well. Not the most helpful or clear person, but she is a foreign language teacher. I learned quite a bit from her, and while class was somewhat boring, she did teach me a lot.
