Dr Luter was a solid speech teacher and was clear about what he wanted. A good amount of speeches (5-6). Make sure you are prepared. Would've gotten an A if I just put in a little but more effort. The more you participate the more he likes you.

Great Professor, but very liberal. Would not go a single day without discussing politics, and at times making the environment very uncomfortable. Tough grader but gives GREAT feedback, like entire pages worth. Every chapter has a quiz and every assignment has a pop quiz based on the components. No attendance, but if you miss the workshops.. yikes.

I dropped his class the first week during add drop because i couldn't stand his leftist views and constant ragging on the governor, Trump, and other republican members of congress. Normally I take this as a challenge to engage in a discussion but with this just being a class to graduate I did not want to hurt my gpa .

Dr. Luter is one interesting man. He is very theatrical and intelligent. If you are taking him for a honors class, good luck. His speech class is difficult, especially if you are not the best public speaker. He is a very reasonable graders though. It is possible to get a good grade if you try hard and practice your speech... a lot!

One of my favorite teachers, he's a cute little old man and he is a very good professor. I took SPEH200 which is a speech class and I hate giving speeches, but this is one of my favorite classes because of him. He gives very specific feedback and lets you pick topics of interest which makes the class much more interesting.

Although I did not have Dr. Luter as a professor, I was an Honors student who sought advice from him on several occasions. Dr. Luter was always very standoffish and rude, eventually ignoring my emails completely when I asked for my name to be spelled correctly on an award I received from the Honors department. Go over his head for any help.

I am a business major and ended up having him all year for Pathways to honors freshman year. He wasn't too helpful and we were graded on a speech and attending art events, really wasn't helpful for me as a business major. And, after a whole year, he never learned my name.

Professor's demeanor is exceptionally superb! He is very eager and helpful if you do not understanding the assignments given. He is well spoken and really wants his students to learn. He is also very funny. If you want to succeed in this class, you have to listen very well, do your assignment, and give your best to succeed.

Great professor if you are an art or theather major. All we did for pathways was write simple reviews on things we attended such as meetings and symposiums. Loves to talk, not as helpful if you are a non-art or theater major. Hates the word like. We gave one speech in pathways, only real assignment.

Gary Luter pisses me off more than anybody. He's a wonderful speaker and very intelligent, however, he's a terrible professor. He picks favorites and makes it very obvious in his grading. If you're giving a presentation, he will cut you off and ramble on about whatever he wants to talk about, completely disrespecting you. I hated his class.

Despite Dr. Luters dry sense of humor, he is VERY fair. You will learn a lot about public speaking. Does not take points off for saying "um" but does for "like" and some other words. You will learn a lot. He's very dedicated to his career...attends all of the honors meetings and symposiums...I'd take him again.

Had so much fun, learned a lot about speech. Don't really bother buying the book, there are a few quizzes and he tells you whats on them beforehand. Gives you an outline and rubric for each speech, have fun with it. Really out there but really knows his stuff, learned alot. Wonderful man, good HONORS contact. Good Luck =)

Very good professor, a great story teller, when explaining topics in class. Hard tests, which rely heavily on book and notes, requires a lot of memorizing, but no surprises. Does have some "pop" quizzes, but they are simple and about what you have been talking about in class. Pay attention and you'll have no problem.

So far not had too much experience with Luter but I would caution you against going to his office to ask a question. He is incredibly disrespectful of students who are unsure of themselves.
