Comment:
Bilgere is great! Yes, you will need to read and write, but not too much. He understands we're busy people and he's real with his students. He wouldn't make a reading out of class take more than 20 minutes and we had a 2-page paper once a week and two 5 pagers twice during the semester. his midterm and final were quite simple as well.

Comment:
Probably one of the most unengaging professors I have had thus far at John Carroll. Basically just reads the literature in front of the class and gives his interpretation of it. When you have to write about it, he basically just wants to hear what he lectured. Regarding due dates, it is always unclear when assignments are due. Wouldn't recommend.

Comment:
Dr. Bilgere was engaging, encouraging, sensible, no-nonsense teacher. He is pretty laid back and just wants to see his students succeed. He gives excellent feedback and is always honest with his students regarding their work. He is passionate about literature, especially poetry, and bestows that same interest among his students. Good guy/teacher

Dr. Bilgere is a no-nonsense grader. He's comfortable telling you right from the beginning that most people will not leave with an A. If you're willing to work hard and take the class seriously, however, you will become a demonstrably better writer. It's as simple as that.

Comment:
Class is very boring. Essays are 60% of your grade and he grades them with a check or check minus so you never know how you are doing in the class. He does not give a syllabus so you never know the homework beforehand and he often emails it the night before it is due and expects it to be done. He also randomly leaves class

Throw an exposed body part in your poem, and Bilgere will melt like butter on a vacationing and sunbathing Natalie Portman. You'll enjoy Bilgere's class. Don't confuse confidence with arrogance like some of these other "posters."

Egomaniac? Perhaps, but certainly no more so than most profs, especially in that department. But of all the profs I had in grad school, he's the one I would most like to hang out with now. He's engaging and has a truly wicked sense of humor, which is probably lost on undergrads. (Does that comment make me sound egotistical? Oh well.)

Easiest midterm I have ever taken. He is kind of a strange guy and egotistical. If you read and pariticpate you will be on his good side.

I took him a while back, but agree with the egotistical reviews. Beneath his cool-hip-guy facade lies an ultraconservative stylist and a nauseating name-dropper. But in retrospect, this makes me feel more sympathetic toward him. I think he's still a kind man & rather vulnerable underneath it all.
