Easy A class. 3 exams, no papers. Exams are close reading exams based on 27 different easy readings, all multiple choice. No need to take notes. All exam questions come straight from the readings. He will let you record lecture.

Comment:

Very easy to do well in his classes, take home tests with the occasional essay. He appreciates participation and teaches in a very informal style. This means that you get out of it what you put in and while you can easily get an A, getting a holistic education requires time outside of class.

If you need a WI class, take ART100. He has a grading "contract" instead of a syllabus. If you miss no more than 3 classes, get an 75 average from the final and midterm you will automatically get a B+. Easiest prof by far at UNCG. Not much writing AT ALL.

Comment:

George is a fantastic professor whose interests lie not only in photography, but in modern and post-modern art. He is knowledgeable, witty and keeps lectures interesting. Exams are essay based and really challenging. You can tell that he wants you to be as passionate as he is. He's the reason I switched to ARH from ART.

He teaches straight from the textbook. He spends too much time showing slides of nude women. There is a midterm, writing assignment and the final. You can only be absent twice or he takes off points on your final grade. The exams are open note/open book but nothing comes from class lectures, just the readings. HEAVILY THEORY-BASED.

George is literally the best professor I ever had at UNCG. He is so down to earth and his classes are so much fun. Tests weren't hard at all and the workload is very reasonable and he gave back good feedback so you really learn. I loved his class and wish I could take him again

Dimock is incredible. He's very passionate about artart history and he is a very nice professor. His exams this semester were take-home and open note and he only had two writing assignments assigned, but they weren't graded. I highly recommend him if you want to take ART 100! Just come to class and you'll do just fine.

CON= The test aren't easy at all! But my definition of easy is not everyone's definition of easy! PRO= the tests are open book :) ALSO THERE'S NO WAY YOU CAN FAIL OR MAKE LOWER THAN A B+, unless you don't try at all AND miss more than 2 days of class! He's super cool! TAKE HIM!!!

George was one of my favorite professors. He really challenged us to decide what qualified as art and made us then support those ideas. Moreover, he created one of the best classroom environments I have ever been a part of. I now teach elementary school, and I model some of my community building after George's class.

If you are not interested in politics, I would highly suggest not taking this class. I do not agree with Dimock's political positions, and had to sit through several rants regarding this. He claims to push for free thinking, and yet, if you disagree with him, he will belittle you. I was thoroughly disappointed with Dimock, and the classes I took .

Dr.Dimock is an excellent professor, he cares about his subject material and is very helpful to students if they have any concerns. This class had a decent bit of reading, but nothing too strenuous. Also he would give study guides for exams.

I love photography and was so excited to take this class. Ended up hating it by the 3rd week of class. He is unclear and very unorganized when using MDID. It's more about the memorization of your readings than actually learning about photography. I was thoroughly disappointed with all aspects of class.
