Tough grader. Not clear on what she wants, grades by her opinions and teachings. English is suppose to be base on your opinions but she grades by just her's. So if you don't write what she wants she'll just give you a bad grade.

Comment:

This professor's tests are easy. Two essays and usually 10 short answers which can be identify the speaker or answer the question (how did god test abraham etc..) The essay grading can be off and on. If you know how to write a simple thesis with proper quotes to back up your point, you are in no danger. She is old and slow, please have patience.

She grades on no specific criteria and it is almost impossible to get As on her essays and exams. She doesn't help at all and doesn't give feedback. English was always interesting and an easy pass for me , but somehow she made the lectures not only boring, but difficult to pass with a decent grade. I don't advise you to take her class at all.

She is older and doesn't use technology when teaching. If you participate and listen you will get an A. She will tell you EXACTLY what is on the test. It will be covered in class, you just have to pay attention. She knows her subject matter very well and I would take her class every semester if I could. Pay attention to her formatting guidelines.

She has some positive and negative attributions. ;however, the negative outweighs the positive. pretty much everybody described her to a "T". I thought people were exaggerating about how she grades .... Despite that she would find the time to try and explain assignments. Also she is very knowledgeable of the material she teaches... Good luck!!!

Honestly just do not take her. I'm not lazy at all, straight A student. I was never absent, put a lot of effort into her papers and studied a lot for tests. Still didn't ace the class. The fact that I suck at math and bio and aced both classes, yet English is my best subject and got a B- says it all. She's tough, old and annoying. Just do not take.

She bias towards students. She is never clear and does not allow you to revise your essay . She grades grammar hard, however ,she wont prepare you for the grammar style she prefers. You can be a good writer ,but she may make you feel that your style of writing is not good and wont give you another chance to revise projects . She races too.

What she is doing in the class is just summarizing reading H.W. And she is such a hard grader, especially, on grammars. If you are very confident on you grammar, then take this class; otherwise, never. Some good things are she will let you go early every time and there are only two essays and two in class exams. no other assignments.

Prof Wolkenfeld is eccentric for lack of a better word, however, she gets the job done. The class is ok you just sit there and go over the assigned readings.2 papers and exams are open book & notes and fairly easy (usually 10 short ans and 2 short essays). She's a stickler for grammar so be sure to proofread carefully/a lot b4 you submit a paper.

DO NOT TAKE!I NEVER in my life got a grade lower than A- & this woman gave me a B+. 1st paper I got a B+ she said it needed work, so for my 2nd paper I went to the writing center & also I asked a teacher with an English major to proofread it & both told me I would get an A.She gave me a B+ again!No way to ace her papers & her exams are super tough.

Tough grader. Thought I deserved at least a B in this class, but got a C. Class is pretty boring as well. However, just 2 papers and midterm and final. If you can figure out a way to ace her papers, then you may pull off a high grade. If someone easier is available, take them if not, I guess she isn't too bad but she is tough as aforementioned.

This woman is full of knowledge. I enjoyed her class, but students must participate or else they will not succeed. A lot of reading, but the stores were interesting. Even if you do not understand the text, she does a remarkable job at explaining it the next class day.

I'm taking her class this spring 2010. She gives 2 papers, each is 3 pages, midterm, and final.The midterm and final each has 2 brief essays and 10 short answers.She tells which selection of readings will be for the 2 brief essays before the midterm and final.So the students can be prepared for the essays.However,she is a tough grammar grader.

Don't listen to those ppl. She's awesome! She only gives 2 3-page papers, 1 final, + 1 midterm. She's super sweet + u can tell she loves kids. She explains the readings well. If your grammar is alright, TAKE HER. What more could you ask for? She only wants the best for her students. That's why she's tough on them. I AM SO GLAD I CHOSE HER CLASS!
