Easy class, very smart teacher. Watched a movie one out of three classes a week, but he's so knowledgeable about the topics I'd almost rather have another lecture instead of a movie. Sometimes had classes just answering questions students were interested in, which really allowed people to explore their interests in the subject.

I really enjoy professor Herman. I will admit his voice is like a white morgan freeman, so it will put you to sleep. However, bring a strong cup of coffee to class and your mind will be blown. He would benefit from more quizzes though, i feel like I learn so much but it's rarely used.

This course was deceptively difficult - not just watching films. Herman and the other Professors did a good job, but the class was large and many of the students had no interest in the humanities or in doing the work. Those with open minds who tried were rewarded. Those who didn't complained about everything but their own attitudes.

Prof Herman had the misfortune to put together an excellent course and then have to give it to a large class with too many freshmen and too many slackers. The last comment shows what the slackers thought. The course was NOT a joke for the students, like me, who worked hard and prepared. We learned a lot from Herman and the other two professors.

Flight & Space Technology- Easy as pie. Prof is cool, brilliant. Great beard. DO NOT buy the costly books, find out which 1 or 2 you need(WINGS book good for essays) +classpack. Can be boring @ times, fascinating others. Pick his brain about the future of flight (airports, ISS specifically) for awesome insight. Stay awake= rewarding knowledge.

This class would be enjoyable if he knew how to balance his time. We have roughly double the assigned class hours per week, are expected to read numerous documents in the library that are never available, and have only one hour for discussion. He babysits us with a screen- I'd rather have lectures, since he seems genuinely interesting. Shame.

Worst ever. All he does is read from the class pack and talk. Could be a very interesting class, but he makes it horrible. Easy class though.

Professor Herman is truly brilliant and actually quite interesting if you care enough to listen to what he is saying (and of course, aren't an idiot). Going to class is not supposed to be like watching a Rambo movie.

Good professor overall but tends to ramble after awhile. Knows just about everything possible about subject. Ridiculously easy class with no attendance or tests, just essays you can easily throw together.

This is why tenure sucks and we get screwed with professors like Herman. His class was ludicrously easy, and the only reason people sign up is because he doesn't take attendance and the number who came to class was embarrassing (50 people enrolled, about 5 came). It took 9 points for an A, and he offered 20 points. He knew the subject, but BORING!!

Herman really knows a lot and you can learn a lot from him if you want to. I was interested in the Vietnam Wars, but man was he a boring lecturer. I ended up not going to class that often, but he doesn't really care. Just do your midterm presentation and 2 papers(on anything dealing with the wars, you choose) and you'll get an A. No quzzes/tests.

I am writing this as I sit in this dudes class. Im a CJ major and took "cinema studies" cause i thought it be fun and easy. This dude takes it way too seriously, the movies are terrible, they are all black and white and the newest movie is like singing in the rain. CLASS IS 3 HOURS LONG two days a week. BORING, USELESS,****NDOUS....stay away

This class was interesting, but the professor is incredibly boring sometimes, and will talk for literally hours. Weekly short answer questions, a paper and a take home final are required.

The class really sucks, I wouldn't recommend it for an elective. Herman is a pretty good teacher though. He definitely knows what he's talking about. He interrupts the other professors a lot, but mostly Howlett, which is good since she's easily the worst of the class. Herman grades easily too, so it's not hard to get an A on his essays.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS UNLESS YOU ARE A FILM MAJOR! There is not just one professor, there are four and they all have different grading styles. And class is three hours twice a week. Bad choice for an elective.

BORING...he felled asleep in our class with the rest of us once watching a movie. Nothing but lectures, and although I didn't take notes or read the assigned readings it was easy to pass. If you know how to BS a final paper and presentation (the only two things that are graded) then this is the class for you.

This guy seemed bored to death teaching this class. he spoke so fast it was impossible to write down ANYTHING he said. Further, he really did nap in class, especially during the videos he showed. The class is good if you have an interest in teh subject, but this guy should really not be the one teaching it. He is passionless.
