I think Professor Young is an amazing professor - if you're into actually learning. He's incredibly intelligent, so exercise relentless curiosity in his courses and make the most of them. He's not an easy grader by any means, but when you do well, you know you *really* did well.

I took his class the first semester of my freshman year and was really intimidated by the course load. BUT, you don't have to do the readings unless you write the weekly paper. He gives you everything you need to know for the midterm and final. It was a really good challenge! He is extremely smart and someone I am lucky to have had as a prof.

His grading system is really bad. You won't know why you receive the grade you did and you won't know that grade till after the semester is over. He sets his students up to fail in his tests that average in F for the entire class and when asked to give more time or limit the required material in the tests, he just tells the student to do better.

He is a GPA killer. The class average on the midterm was a 61, which he seemed to take a strange sort of pride in. He is very, very military-minded and maintains a certain smugness about him. Dr. Young is an entertaining lecturer, but often rambles off topic. Powerpoint slides are useless.

Taking a class with Greg will not be an easy A, but it will be the most interesting class you will take at CU. His experience livens up the lecture and make it seem less like a lecture and more like a story, which is amazing for 75 minute class blocks. If you put the work in you will learn so much and the A will feel earned rather than a formality.

Took this intro class and loved it. Young is such a bean and makes what could be a very long 75 minutes into something bearable. His lectures are just powerpoints, so it does get a bit bland after awhile. However, I will say this is one of the better and more interesting lower-level courses I have taken.

The class is a lot of work but he is fair and you will learn a lot. He lectures without any notes because he knows everything so well and he tells everything like it's a story which makes it way more interesting than the focus on dates and details that history usually has. He has lots of personal experience which is really interesting to hear about

Greg is one of my favorite profs at CU, but he won't make getting an A easy. You have to work for it, but it's worth it. You will learn a lot.

Extremely interesting professor, he's one of those legendary professors that knows his things really well and easily transfers it through the lecture, the class was probably half of the semester on the middle east ,since he is a middle eastern guy, and the other half on the rest of the world.

If you are interested in International Affairs or Political Science then I HIGHLY recommend you take a course with this professor. He is tough. He grades hard and you have to work for it. However, he is an incredible professor that has really been there. He knows what he is talking about and does so with a great passion that is inspiring.

Prof. Young is a very bright man. The topic of the class was revolutions in politics and he knew his stuff backwards. His humor style is very odd, but funny after you know him a bit. Expect a lot of forwardness and honesty, he learns everyone's names and calls you Mr. or Ms. which I find nice. Also The Hunt for the Red October was based on his work

Dr. Young is a very difficult professor, however, he is extremely helpful if you do not understand the material. Going to office hours is smart and he is very willing to explain concepts you don't understand. Work hard on your papers as that is where a big % of gradeing come from! Attendance isn't mandatory, but he does take it and it helps grades.

He is a very well spoken professor and to succeed in his class you must go to class! He is a very difficult professor and expects only the best from his students. I learned so much in his class and I can't wait to take another class with him.

This professor was knowledgeable but getting that knowledge spread to his students was not his strong point. He also comes across as a bit pompous--kind of full of himself. He would be better being a researching academic than a teacher. His grading system made no sense---he and his TA's need to get on the same page.

If your at college to learn, this is a professor who is going to make you think, and develop intelligent ideas about foreign policy. To do well on his tests, you have to be able to apply the information you learn, go to class, and ask questions often. I've learned the most from this teacher in all the years I've been at CU.

This teacher definitely knows what he is talking about...the problem is that you probably wont. He is clear in the beginning of the course but once he becomes behind he skips important information that he assumes you to already know. The readings are insanely long and the tests are impossible. Our midterm was 1 A, 2 Bs, 5 Cs, 12 Ds, and 12 Fs.

This professor has some insane tests. He was knowledgeable but when it comes to tests and grading, it is completely INSANE. TA's tends to grade very differently person by person. Essays every week. Harsh. Very harsh.

Mostly easy material but he and the TAs grade really hard. His lectures are confusing, and he rambles a lot, which makes his powerpoints useless. He isn't clear about what he wants you to know and the TAs aren't allowed to tell you so studying is difficult.
