Comment:

Professor Finklestein is well respect by his peers. He is known as a very tough professor, although his lectures are long and all verbal with barely any work on the board, he cares about his students and wants everyone to do well. He will curve the exams 7-19 points sometimes but his exam as hard. I recommend everyone to study 6+ hours for his exam

Comment:

Professor. Finkelstein was not as bad this semester as people said he is. Don't get me wrong, this was the hardest i've ever taken in college, but def a lot easier then i expected. Very approachable, helpful and encourages you to ask questions. Tests were hard, but not as hard as the past. he gave us a 19 and 13 point curve on test 2 and 3.

Comment:

This is not a class for students that want their hands held. Professor Finkelstein's lectures are literally all from his mouth and you have to take very good notes to understand the concepts. He is approachable and encourages you to try and give it your best shot. He knows the material inside and out. A living breathing legend.

Tax with Prof. Finkelstein is NOT for the weak hearted. You will be required to put in hours after each class studying the material. Prof. Finkelstein's notes are comprehensive and I would recommend you thoroughly review them and read the book as well. Most important thing is that don't leave things for the last minute.

This is a very hard class and 144 with Katz is probably easier, but Professor Finkelstein is an excellent professor. His lectures are clear and his tests come out of his notes. You just need to study...a lot...Overall I would recommend this professor.

Worst Professor Ever! Goes too fast and has an attitude problem. His notes don't help that much on test. His test are impossible to pass. Does not curve. About 3-4 tests given. If everyone does bad on 1st or 2nd test, he give random quizzes so the few points is towards your Cumulative Final! Avoid!All you will hear in ur mind from him is OR ORRRR!!

His inclass notes and examples are very important. Tests are incredibly hard, and very tricky. Nice guy, but he expects a lot from students for taking a basic tax course. Be prepared to get picked on

This is a hard class and on average you take about 3-4 pages of notes per class (and I write small). His exams are all closely based on the notes but there's so much information that it's hard to memorize everything. It's not the most exciting class in the world, but once you get to know him, he's a nice guy. Just a harder than average class.

Dr. Finkelstein is not only one of the best professors by whom I've been, taught he is also one of the most compassionate people to whom I've ever been aquainted. He is one of my favorite people not only at Hofstra, but anywhere.

The most important thing to know about him is that his tests are REAL hard. Take really good notes on the examples he gives in class. Also, you must do the homework in order to be successful. He allowed cheat sheet on tests which helped, but the exams were still tough.

He is a great teacher for such a hard subject. He knows the whole text book by heart. And test problems are similar to examples he give in notes and h.w. problems. He allowed cheat sheets for first 2 exams and final was open book.
