Astronomy is not an easy elective/blowoff class.. Moody is a good teacher but could've prepared us for the tests better. He goes through a lot of information in each lecture, but the slides are all posted online so don't take notes. The homework is a big part of your grade!!!

Prof. Moody is amazing, but this class is incredibly hard for a GE. I spend more time in this class than I do in american heritage because of the endless homework assignments. Also the TA's don't know what they were doing. They told us the first test was going to be easy and the average score was 77%. Know what you're getting into before taking it.

Prof Moody definitely cares about astronomy, but he puts me to sleep every class. Not super engaging. The observing projects are unnecessarily hard for a GE. It's an easy class if you do the worksheets, but it's not a fun GE and there is a bunch of busywork. If you're not passionate about space, just take physical science instead.

I loved Professor Moody! He is able to break down difficult astronomical concepts into simpler terms while still going into depth. There are four major tests but almost every question comes from the study guide

Literally my favorite class at BYU!!! Professor Moody is incredible! He's clear about grades, breaks down concepts, and is approachable, making it easy for any student to get an A. Don't worry, no equations to memorize! He earned frequent applause during his lectures, and the planetarium is amazing. TAKE THIS CLASS FROM PROFESSOR MOODY!!!

I'm not good at physical science, so this class was not my favorite, but it was still cool! Prof. Moody is so intelligent but doesn't explain things very simply. The TA labs and test reviews were incredibly helpful. 1 easy assignment/week, several observing projects, and a constellation memorization quiz - all time consuming. 4 medium-hard tests.

Astronomy was a very fun class. I am not really into the sciences but he made the lectures entertaining. You can tell by the way he teaches that he knows his stuff.

Professor Moody is the best! He is such a cute and hilarious teacher. He is willing to work with any student and truly loves what he teaches. As long as you review the slides, study for the tests, and start working on the observing projects early you will do great!

Moody's lectures are super entertaining! He is really committed to getting people interested in astronomy. There are weekly homework assignments, short attendance quizzes every class, monthly observation projects, midterms, and a final. It is manageable as long as you work on the observation projects early enough. Very approachable and entertaining

Dr. Moody is enthusiastic, encouraging, he has good jokes, and he maintains his excitement throughout the semester. He always responds well to any question and is happy to go over a concept again. He knows his stuff and teaches clearly. The homework packet for exam is a lifesaver! I never used my textbook. Id recommend this class.

Prof. Moody was great and I did enjoy him. He is a bit monotone for me and I found myself not being able to focus on his lectures because he reads off of slides and will elaborate a bit. The observing projects were fun but start those a head, you really can't do it in one night. I didn't read the book, I went to lecture, and studied and passed.

Astronomy was one of my favorite classes this semester. Professor Moody made it very interesting although he is very smart and lots of the concepts went over my head. The TA reviews for the exams saved my life. Go to those and you will do fine on the exam. He gives a study guide for each exam. Hw is easy.

Dr. Moody is the best! You can tell that he loves astronomy and that's reflected in his teaching. You don't need the textbook, he goes over everything you need to know in his lectures. If you read over the study guide, you'll do fine on the tests. I didn't think they were bad at all. This is a super interesting class with a great professor!

Loved Bro Moody's astronomy class! He can occasionally rush through some material, so sometimes you have to go study on your own to really understand what was said. Didn't really use the textbook much except to find answers to the weekly online quizzes. Going to the planetarium is the best! Tests are kind of hard and study guides are quite long.

Professor Moody is a great guy and he LOVES astronomy! He does his best to share his enthusiasm with the class and keeps the courseload light on students. He gives worksheet packets that if completed are very helpful for the test, but if you're busy or don't understand them, he posts the keys before the midterm. Highly recommended.

Really interesting class. Astronomy is a subject I've never studied before but Prof Moody made it really clear. Don't need to read the textbook if you take good notes at EVERY lecture, and do all of the homework.

Amazing teacher and an eye opening class. I learned so much and I'm absolutely in love with the subject! It wasn't necessary to read the text, but it was helpful in giving you a more solid understanding of the subjects. There are in class quizzes (not worth a ton of points) and he's generally an easy grader. Tests aren't bad either.

This was my favorite class at BYU. Professor Moody's classes are pretty relaxed and he's always willing to answer any questions. I didn't even buy the text book. Just make sure you pay attention during class because some of the concepts are abstract. Reviewing the review work sheets before tests really helped me. Take this class from Moody for sure

Professor Moody is a likelable guy, but I found his class dull. Keep in mind I'm not a science guy. I took this class to avoid physical science, but now I wish I would have taken it instead. He wasn't very clear about how things were graded and it took me a while to figure it out. I was completely bored and hated the class.
