He is a funny man, but a terrible teacher. His lessons are strictly powerpoint and extremely boring. Mostly common sense, actually. The essays on the tests are easy to BS usually. I hated his class because we literally got through about 3 slides a day. He wastes so much time on pointless tangents! I'd avoid him if possible, but not too terrible...

Dr. Matovu is a fairly nice professor during lecture, but whenever I asked him anything outside of class he was completely rude and acted arrogantly. He has a reallllly weird grading scale, so don't expect to remotely know your grade until the end. But generally speaking, pretty easy subject matter. I did well.

Comment:

Dr. Matovu's class was a complete waste of time. It seems he really knows what he is talking about, but the product just isn't interesting with him teaching it. He rambles on about nothing, and you end up dozing off while he is talking about things other than his class. I ended up skipping ALL of his classes, and still made a B.

I really like Dr. Matovu as a person, but as a professor he's pretty difficult. He grades weird, he's hard to understand, and he's wayyyy to picky on exams! He does, however, assign about 5 extra credit assignments every class period.

A power-point professor. Isn't very knowledgeable on much on the subject. From Uganda, so I'm not sure why he teaches a mainly English-based class. Tests are usually pretty BS-able, but isn't very helpful in class. Tons of opportunity for extra credit, although it isn't hard to pass the class. I don't like him just because he seems to be a moron.

All right, the thing about this guys is that he's an awful teacher, but it is not that hard to get a good final grade. All you have to do is send in questions for the study guide, study it, and BS the essays as much as possible. Also, I never stayed to grade my own paper, because when he does it, he just kinda marks everything right....

I love Matovu. Funny little old man. I had him at 9 a.m & I never missed a class because i enjoyed it so much. Test are straight forward!

I do not understand why Dr. Matovu has such awful ratings. He really is not a bad teacher. His tests are not unreasonable. Go to class and read the chapters and you will do fine. He offers extra credit almost every single class. He is also a really nice man.

You would expect a COM teacher to be effective in their com skills... NOT THIS GUY!! His accent is so thick you can't understand anything! Tests are RIDICULOUS! This is the worst class I've ever had... I hate showing up for this!!! And his extra credit papers only count like one point so you have to do well on the tests! It Sucks!

I had him as my advisor, and received more help from friends and professors than him. Not to mention he is extremely rude. I was early to our first meeting but forgot a paper and because of it he berated me, refused to see me and after making another appointment refused to give me my pin number to register saying "I should have been more prepared"

Matovu took several students to Uganda over summer session and placed them in a hotel down the street from an active terrorist cell that targets Americans. My girlfriend was on that trip. Thanks alot Matovu, you obviously care about the safety and well being of your students....

Matovu makes the entire comm dept look bad. Due to his placement! It's a disgrace to my degree that he is placed to teach of the most important classes in the upper 3000 PR curriculum, and an amazing teacher like Pope is teaching intro where half the students change to a different major. GET IT TOGETHER COMM DEPT

Some people were not meant to teach. This professor is a primary example. If you do not stick exactly to his preferred styles, you will be lucky to get half credit. And we're not talking AP or PR style, but his own personal preference. I got a paper back about two months after we turned it in, and all he wrote on it was "NO" x6. Thanks a lot.
