I feel he's pretty decent teacher. He might be a bit boring but you really do actually learn about the topic in full by the time you finish his class. He replies quite quickly to questions and really is there to help.

Professor Calvin is a cool guy. Like the guys said here, he tries his best to make you understand concepts of the class which is super hard. Honestly I didn't learn anything straight from him. But his exercises are really good and if you put the effort to understand the material on your own you will be fine.

Grading was strictly based off midterm/final exams. Professor tries his best to make students understand the concepts of data structures, however the material itself is hard. His exams are worth 20% final, and 35% Midterm and 45% hw. Plus side, he curves grades huge! Just try your best and you will pass. Attendance not required.

Comment:
The tests involve a lot of (theoretical) analysis and are thus difficult, but he's very generous in grading, meaning that he'll give full credit on partially-right answers AND has a huge curve. The lectures are kind of boring and disengaging, but the programming projects are definitely fun, and if you do those you're set for exams. I got an easy A.

Decent Professor. Just go over the practice exams and you will get an A. As for homework the questions are usually easy but there are times where you have to sit there and think for a moment.

Great guy to be with, not so much a teacher though. He reads off his slides, gives you a sample problem, and you sit there for an hour trying to figure out how to find his example using the command prompt. As for HW and test, the TA handled the HW and that's a whole other story. The test were STRONGLY based off the practice exam, just memorize them

Everything in this class, like quizzes and exams, are based almost directly off of information Calvin posts to moodle. So if you understand (memorize) all of the algorithms and practice exams from moodle. You'll be fine. Just go to class before an exam to get the answers for the practice test.

Very talented professor. Will go an extra mile for you if you show effort. Subject matter is so much more complex than undergrad. Be prepared to toggle/struggle/go insaine with the topics. Hard work is rewarded nicely on the final grade.
