I absolutely love Dr. Edwards and Found Ed. I learned so much about education and the world. Dr. Edwards really cares about his students and encourages them to visit him in office hours. He has been extremely helpful to me as I think about the possibility of pursuing teaching after college. The class is definitely difficult, but so worth it.

If you want to fail a class definitely take Dr. Edwards. His exams are random facts that he talks about in the lectures, even if it has nothing to do with the readings or topic. Hard grader, and not helpful at all.

Dr. Edwards is right about many things, but in the worst way; he speaks in a emotionally charged way and he comes off as unprofessional. Also, he isn't consistent in or good with communicating his expectations. That being said, you will learn tons, just don't accept every word he that he says.

Reading heavy, but when he gives quizzes: take note that he loves lists! Quizzes are open note, so take advantage! You earn the grade for the effort you put into the class.

Dr. Edwards is challenging, but his class was one of the most rewarding classes I have taken yet in my three years of college. He makes you work, but is very reasonable and fair when it comes to grading. This class was my most difficult class of the semester, but at the same time was the one that I couldn't wait to go to every Tuesday and Thursday.

Extremely challenging course. The tests and quizzes are all fill-in-the-blank primarily from the reading. Ed Majors - be warned, Dr. Edwards does NOT agree with GCC's ed department. He doesn't have a lot of respect for ed majors in general, and won't be hesitant to voice his negative opinion of those who are studying education.

Tons of work, 100% worth it. Integrates plenty of ideas into class. All about learning for wisdom's sake, not just a degree. Encourages deep discussions & questions, which solidify *important* points. Take detailed notes on the tons of reading to get the most out of it and do well on the quizzes. Changed and strengthened my worldview. Best class.

Dr. Edwards is well-spoken and a thorough teacher, but he is not for everyone. Recommended for the student who loves learning and critical thinking - he is a counter-cultural thinker and will have an impact on you if you allow him. Passionate about classical education and history. Tough grader on the paper. One of my very favorite classes at GCC

Exams are all fill-in-the-blank. Memorize lists like it's your job because he loves to test you on them. He allows you to use your notes on the quizzes, so definitely take good notes on the readings. As for books, they get better as the semester goes on. Don't give up, read, study, and you'll be fine.

Definitely my favorite professor so far at GCC, he's absolutely brilliant. I didn't think it was possible to learn so much in one class. If you get the chance to take Dr. Edwards, take it! He's a LOT of work but believe me when I say it is so worth it. Honestly, he changed and challenged my outlook in so many ways, as a great professor should.

Comment:
Dr Edwards is petty, narrow-minded, and arrogant. His lectures are kind of interesting, and I don't mind his teaching. But like some of the other comments here, Dr Edwards was very unprofessional (and somewhat childish) when grading my paper. He wrote unhelpful, useless comments that came across as nothing but mean. Stuff like "UGH!" and "Really!?"

Dr. Edwards turned out to be one of my favorite professors, and I'm a math major (NOT a history major). I learned so much in Foundations of History. The class was hard and a lot of work, but if you put the time into it, you will be rewarded. I've never been so proud of an A in my life.

Great professor, interesting class. The reading can be hard to keep up on, but if you do read you'll learn a lot. Dr. Edwards is very helpful if you visit his office hours. Take this class during intersession so you don't have to worry about it during the semester. Be ready to work hard though.

The worst professor at GCC including Dr. Duprey. Quizzes are very irritating as he allows you to have notes but then picks out the most random trivial pieces of information out of the book. Professor enjoys torturing students with insane amounts of busy work.
