Honestly he's funny, friendly, and down to earth but unless you love sociology or youre a sociology major he is not the guy for you because he does tend to ramble and his directions/ grading tend to be confusing. But if you put in the effort to understand him and his teaching methods you really can get a lot out of taking his class.

His lectures are mostly discussion-based. Sometimes its nice but you never really know what you should be taking notes on or paying attention to which makes the class a little more difficult. There isn't much work involved and he'll let you rewrite your essay for a better grade which is nice.

Professor Livingston is clearly very knowledgeable on the subject matter and cares a lot about his students. You get out of this class what you put into it. Expect to have to do work and really pay attention. But if you're willing to do that there is no reason why you shouldn't do well. Bonus: he's really funny.

Head of the department and Harvard Phd. Class is lecture heavy but he really wants you to know, so is approachable in that regard. Tough grader if youre not clear, but understanding overall, as you will have a few projects throughout the semester you will have the opportunity to redo each one. What you learn here you rely on to get through it all.

Great professor who is very negotiable and knowledgeable. He lets you redo every assignment and is very friendly but when grading your work, he's tough and too strong a critic for some.

Good professor . knows his stuff and lets you redo all assignments. You also get bonus points for handing things on time. Grades on GPA scale which is a little confusing but it ends up helps you. I would def take him again. No need to buy the book which is awesome!

Fantastic! He really knows his stuff and wants you to know it too. He gets you to "think like a sociologist". He gives opportunity to redo all assignments and the way he grades (GPA Scale) makes it much easier to pass, even if you are struggling. WOULD TAKE AGAIN! He's great!

Do NOT listen to the ones bashing him! Professor Livingston is the head of the department, which proves that he knows his stuff! He is fantastic and really wants his students to learn. His grading system is not done by percentage and you can redo any assignment, therefore if you show you try, you will pass. GREAT PROFESSOR TAKE HIM!!! HE CARES!

DO NOT take his class. Throughout this semester he has not emailed me back once about any of the assignments that I needed help with. His lectures consist of him standing in front of the room with Microsoft word open and he will type random things and talk for an hour. At the end of each "lecture" he assigns a paper which are all hard

here's the thing about him, He will let you redo assignments but still gives you a bad grade. His lectures are painfully boring and he rambles on about nothing. He is also VERY RUDE!

Hes great! I loved getting to know him, specially because hes the Dean of soci. He does make you work, but for most people this is their major and you need to know this stuff. Hes knowledgeable and tries to be funny, its nice to have him not be so serious. You just need to talk to him if you don't understand something. He'll try really hard to help

He is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to the material taught & teaches it in fun ways that holds your interest. I think he is a great professor, I really enjoyed the class. Lots of short papers, & two mult. choice and essay based tests. No attendance taken but it def. makes a difference, his discussions are memorable and useful for the tests.

Worst class i have taken so far. Had to buy the book for one assigment. Boring, useless information he tries to explain but nobody understood. Attendence was n't taken which was pretty cool. Lots of writing. He will let you redo the paper as many times as you want.

Dr. Livingston really knows his stuff, and he will challenge you to actually think instead of just regurgitating material from a book. Lots of essays, but they're not hard and he gives you the chance to redo them if you don't do well. If you don't like thinking, don't take his class and consider dropping out.
