Comment:

Very worldly man. Has real life experience with most of the religions he teaches about and is clearly passionate about helping his students learn a deeper understanding of the world. Two exams only, each worth 50% of your grade. Extra credit paper requires a quick outside experience and bumps your grade a lot. Very good teacher.

Crazy interesting stories!! The stories help me with the subjects he teaches, it was a pit class once a week for three hours, and we only had two exams he entire semester, that was it. So if you failed one exam you're screwed. overall, great teacher

Comment:

He talks very quiet so sit in the front. Says that his tests are primarily on what he says in lecture and his lectures do not follow a PowerPoint so it is confusing to write everything down. Holds classes outside of class time and teaches extra material that will be on the test no matter if you can make it or not. Would not recommend.

Comment:

Kaplan is the kind of guy you'll appreciate only if you actually have a passion for the subject matter he teaches. He has so much experience and many stories to share;lectures are always interesting. However, a lot of students get frustrated with him because his exams have questions on things he does not talk about in class, but is in the reading.

Comment:

Kaplan is a pretty cool guy. He has awesome stories to tell that related well to my religions class. He doesn't teach high school classes, so expect to have to study, and actually work for it. That why so many people do not so hot in his class, because they want a study guide, and he expects way more. Class is easier if you have a passion for it.

As bad as it may have been for many, I actually enjoy the course and the lectures. Kaplan is very informative, knows his stuff, can be unclear about what he expects from the class at times, but as long as you attempt to understand terrorism, you'll do fine.

This was the second class I took with this professor. He is very entertaining and keeps class interesting. It can get boring if you have him for three hours though. He really knows his stuff, and he has traveled all over the place. Highly recommend this teacher. He really cares about his students. One of the best at UWO

I had Kaplan for Honors 175. He taught about terrorism of course. It was very strange- very very strange. Other than being creeped out, I was bored. The one paper I had to write for him I didn't do very well because his research goes beyond any other book, so whatever you'll find for sources are essentially wrong.

He is the best teacher you can possibly get at UW-Oshkosh. I had him for winterim 2009-2010. He's perfectly clear and never uses the book. We were separated into tribes and required to rule by Shura (voting). Extremely interesting and very nice, uniquely hilarious, and helping. Absolutely take him if you can. Said he had cancer :( Wish him well!

Cool teacher! Runs our class Jerry Springer-style, with a cordless mike that he runs around the lecture hall with! Make sure you're paying attention in discussions, especially when it looks like he's picking people at random. A really interesting guy, with great stories and some real insight and experience with the religions. Lots of reading!

World Religions. He is extremely interesting, and has awesome stories. Class itself isn't hard as long as you read the material, go to class, and take good notes. He also gives a great extra credit opportunity. I would definitely recommend Professor Kaplan to anyone! :D

This class was interesting and very well taught.Dr. Kaplan has lived a fascinating life, and is very passionate and enthusiastic when sharing his experiences.His exams are easy as long as you pay attention, and he offers plenty of opportunities for help to make sure you succeed in the class.I would highly recommend taking any of his classes!

I thought the class was easy. I set the curve for the first exam and got 100s on all of my quizes. I never found out what grade I got on my final but my final grade for the class was a B. I thought I did well on my last test and I wanted to see. He told me that since I didnt take advantage of EC HW that he would not even bother w/me
