Took him for stats 1 and stats 2 and can't tell you a single piece of information I retained from his class. No one pays attention and even if you try to, nothing made sense. The exams were nothing like the homework or book, so you hope that atleast your group members know something. Exams were in groups of 3-4, because they were that hard.

Took Madura for Stats 1. Pretty chill guy, but the only way you'll pass is if you really study with homework outside of class and have a group of friends that know what they're doing because he offers his 4 exams in groups.

I have never received a C in my entire life, before taking this class. If you can avoid taking Madura, I would. The class is very boring. He never taught the material that was going to be on the quiz. The only nice thing about this class is you can have a group for all of your quizzes. No exams.

As a Benedictine alumni, I owe my greatest gratitude to Dr. Madura. His statistics courses prepared me to be a real-life problem solver and understand statistics better than most people I work with. He was tough, but seriously dedicated to educating his students. I would not be as successful as I am 10 years later without his teachings.

I knew a lot of people who hated this class because they said it was too hard and they ended up getting Cs or lower. The thing is, when you're struggling he'll tutor you to make sure you know what is going on. If you take the time to go get help from him he'll make sure you succeed. I got a D on my first test, I ended up with an A in the class.

Comment:

Professor Madura always helped me outside of class when I needed it. The content is difficult, but it is possible to get an A. I think the low ratings reflect the student demographic of Benedictine more than it does this professor. This is apparent in the average ACT score of BU's students.

Comment:

Professor Madura is a really nice guy and genius in ACCT. Needed to pass this class are: Good attention span, interest in the class, diligence in doing the Aplia (take these seriously-they make the difference in a grade level) and taking copious notes for each class- the answers during quizzes are always from the class notes! Dry, pleasant humor.

I wish I checked this website before taking his class. His lectures are so dull and he does not talk about accounting what so ever! All the hw is done online and his quizzes has nothing to do with the hw or text book. As of right now, no one is doing well in my class. No one ever shows up either! He is seriously the worst teacher i have ever had!

Do not take this teacher!! Save yourself the frustration and the head ache. Stares at the wall more than teaching you, homework is done on aplia which doesn't even help on the tests, and he gets mad when you don't understand his way of teaching things. Acct111 is not hard so definitely take it with someone else.

Everything i head about this prof. was true. All he does is put up microsoft excel and give you nothing to take notes from. You literally have to teach yourself everything in this course. not to mention the homework is form aplia and he gives you no direction on how to do ANY of it other than "its due tomorrow." USELESS, UNINFORMATIVE, VERY HARD.

I was dreading taking this class, especially with this teacher because I only heard horrible things about him. This class was not easy at all, but I don't think he was that bad of a teacher. I was prepared for him to be horrible (and he was the only stats teacher) but I actually kind of liked him and found the information he taught usuful.

If you can take this class with another teacher, definitely do. Of all the students in my class the highest grade was a C. Even if everyone practically failed the test he will not curve or give extra credit. He puts the blame on the students, never him. His tests are very hard because he rarely ever teaches what you need to know.

You can pass this course without learning anything about stats at all. I hated his teaching method and this class was a chore. He should really rethink all the spreadsheets and try to get the class more involved. It's obvious that he knows his stuff but I couldn't follow the lectures at all. Going to the tutoring center is very helpful.

Don't take this teacher. Spends more time on making charts & graphs than teaching or putting up grades. Isn't clear at all. No one shows up asides for quiz days. No final, just a final quiz. Rock the assignments and do a little less than average on the quizzes, you should be able to pass. Final verdict? Switch professors.

The class practically doesn't exist until test days. The way he grades may be generous (as in get a 60% and earn a C) but the majority of the class still does not do well. His lectures are very dull. If you do perfect on the homework and do okay on the quiz, you're safe. Still, take another teacher.
