Comment:

Class was fairly easy. Homework assignments were not hard at all, and the quizzes were also easy if you did the readings. The midterm was also easy if you studied the study guide he provides the class. For the final, he also gave a study guide, so if you study that you'll pass the class with at least a B. He's also a great, caring professor.

Comment:

He is seriously all over the place. So much work and you have no idea what grade you are receiving in the class because he does not post grades or signify what scores you are receiving on tests, assignments, etc. I was excited for this class, but his class turned me off to art. There is a lot of outside work&events which are mandtry.

Great Christian man. This class involves a TON I mean a TON of work. The catch is it is a very easy A. So if you like fun projects, take. But if your schedule is packed, do not recommend.

Such a nice joyful man! The material he covers is interesting and useful, but the class moves slowly. I feel like I've learned a little bit about Christianity and denominations in general, but I won't have come away from this class with any extremely insightful knowledge. But he's a great person and his lectures are very easy to understand.

If you are looking for an easy class take Thompson, however if you actually want to learn something, do not. I personally hated this class. It is so boring and he talks to everyone like they are 5 years old. Everything we talked about was practically sunday school level, and it was virtually impossible to pay attention. However it was an easy A.

First of all he treats his class like they are kindergarteners. Second of all you dont learn anything important in the class. All he does is give you busy work that you turn in online every class period and you have to listen to church presentations that no one cares about. the class is hell. it's so boring. and he has man pudge. its so gross.

I love art, so I liked most of the projects. However, he sometimes doesn't realize how unclear he is. He will dance around a question and think he's answering it when he is actually making everyone more confused.

He is a very nice guy but did not particularly enjoy the class. I attended every class period and my two friends missed one or two, yet i was the only one who missed points for the attendance/participation. he grades papers like it is english class when they are 2 3 page papers about yourself. nice guy and cares but did not like the class at all

He is so cute haha he always bounces around. The material is kinda boring and he sometimes treated us like kids but he is so nice and a really easy grader. You hardly need to study for his tests. I recommend him to anyone!

Prof. Thompson is extremely unorganized and incompetent. Worst teacher I've had so far at Azusa. Although he is easily influenced, it just makes things more confusing. You never know what to expect from him or what he excepts from you. You can pretty much talk him out of anything. Dont take him!

He teaches well and engages the audience as much as possible. He gets everyones names down by the second class. He grades fairly and is extremely nice, understanding, intelligent, caring. The class is easy and you will learn if you are willing.

Jim is a sweet and gentle-spirited human being with a lightheartedness, humor, and thoughtful demeanor that is positively glowing. Helpful when probed, Jim is a kind and fairly easy-going professor.

Don't expect to learn much about HOW and WHY to teach art to children; just expect to make a LOT of kids' art yourself. This class is a lot of work, but it's mostly arts and crafts. Could definately be more structured and more academia-based IMO. Nice prof though who really cares about his students. Huge portfolio to complete at end of class!

Comment:

Lots of busy work but it was very easy. Not the most exciting class and be prepared to be called on. He is a decent enough teacher, and is willing to help students and has lots of grace, but a little odd with a corny sense of humor. A nice guy, an easy class, study for the tests and its an A.

I was dreading taking this class I put it off until my senior year, but Thompson made this class fun and exciting. I never was interested in Art and now I feel like this is an interest I could pick up. Thompson was more than willing to help in organzing my portfolio. Take this class!

If you hate writing a lot, don't take him. SOO many written responses, and he didn't allow much room for your personality in your writing. I felt like he judged my opinions. He is a very smart guy though, and knows his material, but I didn't feel like I learned anything from the class at all. The text-book reading material was good, however

his class was a truly awful experience. Least organized professor I have ever taken. His syllabus, even, has contradictory point totals. His powerpoint lectures may list 7 points, and the subsequent 7 slides go into detail on 4 of his points and then 3 competely unrelated ideas. Its impossible to know what you need to know because he is SO UNCLEAR.

daily reading for hw but easy short answers. Grades very easy. he gives out review sheets for tests, and chooses the same questions from the review. gives out pop quizes, so have a scantron! A little dull, but everyday theres a lecture. I learned a lot from him and he's very sweet and allowed a lot of late work for full credit.
