I dont know why someone should take a class with this man if you can find another professor. Horrible never complained about a professor in my entire life and I never had hard time doing a course work but this man makes you do too much work until you feel like you are taking 15 credit hours class. NB :- take this class if you want die.

please stay away from this class... from day1 to the end of the semester after every class there is huge assignments due. His class is all about video games nothing important and useful. Dont take eng234 with him it feels like taking 5 classes. No late work is accepted even if your mother dies no excuses. Still not clear what he wants from you

Taking a class with this man is like taking 12 Credits hour in one class. If you plan to focus on only one class take with him unless I am warning you not to ever take a class with this man. He is horrible and Everyday there is something due and he is not clear about what is expected from you. I am strongly recommending you not to take with him.

There are a lot of discussions and easy papers that I blew off at the beginning and it hurt me towards the end. Generally there is a draft 1 and 2 on assignments and Prof. Bowman provides nice audio feedback about thing you do well and things to work on in the future. Do what he says in audio feedback you will get an A on the second draft.

John Bowman is a solid professor. You will by no means float through the class, however he is there to instruct and guide while learning the processes of writing. I would certainly take his class again. I was originally afraid due to his reviews, but I enjoyed the class. Lectures can certainly become boring. He does however, allow laptops in class.

Took this class to make sure I graduate on time and he's absolutely awful. He's not clear about what he wants then he grades you extremely hard. I can honestly say that I have not received less than a C in any writing class ever. But two assignments in I've got two D's. Don't understand why people who clearly don't like teaching aren't replaced.

No late work is accepted, there are no makeup exams. There are no power points or guided notes, so make sure you listen closely to his lecture that consist a lot about himself and not necessarily the topic you need to learn. However, his grading will help you improve your papers if you can understand what direction he would like for you to go in.

I have perfect attendance in every class and love school. But I HATE going to this class. Lectures are long and when I say beware of group projects, i mean it and you better hope you're ASSIGNED good partners because your grade will depend on it. Either you will do all the work, or youll get lucky to have good people with you.

This is a bad class taught by a bad professor. You won't enjoy or benefit as a writer from this class. You won't want to participate in such a pretentious atmosphere.

John is sort of a tough teacher, although he really wants you to succeed and earn a good grade. Lots of group work, take home assignments, peer critique, etc. I was nervous about my final grade but received a B. He engages with class discussion and wants you to learn with previous students' work and short, small lectures. Learn by doing for sure!

Granted, I took the class a year ago, but he offered extra credit to anyone who was willing to do the extra work. It wasn't a cake course, but I found that he was able to explain highly involved concepts in terms that summarized the nature of the concepts while making it easy for students to understand. I thought he was a great professor.

For such a low level class, he expected a lot! Read multiple books and absolutely loves poetry! I didn't like him at all. He's rude and inconsiderate. I love literature and I dreaded his class. Couple of tests and pop quizzes. We had to do forums which were unbearable. He only gave extra credit to those failing too. If you miss a class, good luck!

For an entry level course his expectations are extremely to high. He thinks everyone should understand poetry like he does, he needs to teach this afterall that is his job.

His course starts off very interesting and does not seem hard. He tells you that he focuses on poetry though he makes it sound ok. I got B's on his tests but his pop quizzes are just crazy. he asks very open ended questions on assignments and is not very clear what he wants. you will learn a lot about poetry but the class is stressful.

John Bowman is not a bad teacher but a distant one. He likes poetry and has somewhat unfair expectations of his students to be able to analyze and interpret them. His pop quizes are horrible. But he does give assignments to help people with there grade.
