Comment:
Horton does hold high expectations of students. He flies through the material and students are unable to take notes adequately. He expects VERY detailed answers on tests. He has very few grades like exams, homemade quizzes, and summaries of lit discussions. Lit discussions and homemade quizzes are usually get 100's on! He also quickly emails back!

He's not for students who need to be coddled -- he often will laugh at the expense of one of your mistakes -- but if you have the ability to make fun of yourself, he's really fun. He is clear about his (high) expectations, and is overall a great guy. Also, he was great at helping me during advising difficulties, even though he had no idea who I was

Super nice guy! Always willing to help. His tests are mostly all writing (definitions, compare and contrast, labeling of diagrams [or sometimes matching and multiple choice], short answer, and essay) but if you study the powerpoints you'll be fine. Good teacher, take him if you have to take botany

Class was tough but do-able. His expectations are very clear and his grading is fair. He often seems aloof, so he's not for the student who needs a touchy-feely teacher.

Have never heard him mention a frisbee. Funny dorky guy, helpful outside of class, cares about students who care about learning. Lectures pretty straight forward. Tests are average and cover lecture material closely. Take him, he's not hard - just thorough.

I think he's great-very funny in a detached kind of way. Helpful outside of class. But-he's tough and expects effort from students. Won't waste time with people who aren't trying and interested. I'd take him again!

I asked for help afterdoing badly on the first exam, and he told me just to study harder. I would not recmmend this professor to anyone who isn't excited about plants and frisbee (that's all he talks about).

horton was a nice guy and enthusiastic. this introductory class was wayyyy to difficult for what it was though. the tests were way too difficult for a freshman, non-major class. when i asked for help, like the comment below, he said to get a tutor.

This class was not fun at all. He talks about frisbee all the time. When I asked for help he said to study harder. Would not recommend him.
