Comment:

I took online Eng 112 with her and it is the most irritating classes I have ever taken. She gives a lot of discussion boards which arent bad. We wrote 4 papers and she was so unclear about how they were suppose to do them. She also grades them so hard. Do not take this class unless you are an exceptional writer.

Comment:

Ms. Bland assigns interesting readings, but the homework related to them is completely boring. If you participate, you get a good grade. Her study guides for the tests are great, but she grades very strictly on the writing sections. If you like reading take her, if you are not a strong writer don't take her.

I LOVE Mrs. Bland! She is passionate about English, she is kind, she loves her class, she is personable and knows what shes talking about. Not an easy A, but you will learn loads. The readings are almost all enjoyable and she explains all of them thoroughly in class so its impossible to come away confused. Take her, take her, take her!

Lots and lots of reading in the text book and her reading assignments can be disturbing so don't take this class if you don't want to read about murder and other depressing things.

Professor Bland is a nice person, but not a very good professor. She lectures a lot on stuff that we already know, like commas and grammar. You will write about 4 essays and a research paper. The papers are easy to write, but her grading is very inconsistent. She grades you more on mechanical errors than content, which she said she wouldn't do.

Her classes are hard. If you're looking for an easy A, this is not for you. However, I loved her and her class. She was excellent. There was a lot of reading; but, if you're into old english, it is a wonderful class. I took 243 and 244 with her. Absolutely loved her and her class!!

She's a very hard grader, and scatterbrained with her grading. If she tells you to change one thing on a paper, she then goes back to your original idea and takes points off for the change she TOLD YOU to make. She can be very rude, and unemotional. I would NOT recommend taking her for ANY english course!!

Main things, take this class online most hw is submitted on blackboard anyway. This saves gas and boring lectures. Your grade is heavily linked to attendance; miss 3 classes and you will most likely get a B maximum. Very boring class, please heed my warning and just take it online if you have Ms. Bland.

Do not take this class with this professor unless you plan to attend each one. After 2 absences she starts deducting from your grade. Not a very difficult course but any course with a grade linked to attendance isn't a great course in my opinion. 99% if the homework is submitted online so just take the online course to save boring lectures.

If you're looking for an easy online english class-take her. You have several written assignments which you'll do great on as long as you do them. The usual discussion board posts, very easy. Her tests aren't bad at all as long as you follow the study guide. I barely studied and passed easily. Take her! She's very friendly and helpful!

This is was the easiest english class I have ever taken. If you go to class, take the notes she gives you word for word in your book, than your set. Her tests are a complete joke. 10 vocab words, 10 quotes, 10 questions from the stories, and than 2 essays. She is very easy on her grading of the essays and you can use your book! EASY A!!

Was really leary of this online class at first. The work is tedious BUT it is fairly simple. Lots of reading but as long as you do the work, you'll get a good grade. Mrs. Bland doesn't pick apart work, she just wants to see you've done it. The hardest part is the tests but if you study her test preview you'll do fine. Overall, I was pleased!

I was afraid of this class @ the beginning. 1st test, I felt really iffy about but wound up getting an A! Mrs. Bland is a super warm, intelligent, polite woman who REALLY knows her Eng. Lit. Read the material (not hard) take notes and you'll do great! Wish we could've saved money and found the readings online instead of buying book-you can, btw

Places too much emphasis on poetry and Shakespeare; there were other influential British writers as well... Changed grading scale/weight at the last minute which caused me to get a D in the course, which I was NOT happy about, after having done relatively well all semester on all assignments and tests. Take if no others are open, otherwise avoid.

Great professor! Brings up highly interesting topics in literature. Makes everything easy to understand and uses PPT for lecture. She is extremely helpful and explains even the most obscure lit in easy to understand terms. Highly recommend her!

Out of all my professors from 2 community colleges and UVA Professor Bland is one of the best professors I have had. The class is not hard if you read the assigned reading and do your work. I had little interest in Eng Lit and now I read it in my spare time! Take her class you will not regret it!

She is a CRAZY!!! She thinks that English Lit is the best thing to ever happen! Her tests are the hardest tests I've ever taken. All essays, no mult choice or anything. She is a hard grader. Makes us read pointless material that even English majors will probably never use. She gets way to excited about readings. IT'S JUST A FREAKIN GEN ED WOMAN!!!!
