Professor Seshadri Kartik is a TERRIBLE teacher. He is so ARROGANT and UNFRIENDLY that he often asks some students to drop the class in class when they do not play sitar well and make some small mistakes. He prefers to laugh at students who do not do well rather than help them to learn. NEVER take him again. WORST professor @ UCSD.

Pial Bossman Hossain is an awesome TA. He teaches indian music with an entertaining twist. He's as sardonic as they come and I look forward to his witty remarks every wednesday. Pial FTW.

I'm getting to the point: take tabla. Pial is freaking awesome. Fun, easy class where you learn a lot! I came out with such an appreciation for Indian classical music. I've taken this class 3 times now and I just love it. I highly recommend it to all.

awesome class. I took tabla and I really enjoyed it. fairly easy and not much of a time commitment so a great source for 2 units. you actually get to play the instrument and not just learn boring theory all day long. I really recommend the class.

Student: "How hard do I hit the tabla?" Pial: "With 50 Newtons worth of force." hahaah <3. Pial is purely amazing plus, it is a perfect class for 2 units. Take him! btw ladies, he is hot. the chili pepper isn't referring to the sitar guy, that's for sure.

This rating is for Pial because he is the one who taught the tabla class: very reasonable, caring, and understanding. gave "review sessions" on his own time to help the students grasp the compositions. He's funny and overall, a great guy. i'm taking the class again. (No book by the way so you save some money. But there is a $10 fee assessed).

Pretty awesome class. Class for 30 mins. once a week, 1 2-page paper (double spaced), and a final presentation, and bam! 2-units done! Mostly an easy A. Pial works really hard to teach with the crappy setup (too many people/ not enough instruments), and gives excellent explanations of everything that he teaches. Take it--you won't be disappointed.

Pial is soo cute! I thought he was a professor or something, but it turns out he is an undergrad!! i don't know much about the other professor, but I thought Pial was wonderful! You come to class for 30 mins once a week, learn new compositions, and give a final presentation which is easy because it's in a group. just do the minimum required work!

Pial Hossain practically runs the tabla portion. He is frigging awesome! He makes the class fun with his hilarious sarcasm and keeps things fresh. He's very friendly and is an undergrad too so he knows what us undergrads go through. One of the best classes I've taken at UCSD. I highly recommend taking Pial.

The class is split tabla/sitar. TABLA:This is basically a rating for Arup since I was only in the tabla class. Just show up to all the lectures and participate and it's an easy A. To get the most out of it and to not embarass yourself, GO TO THE PRACTICE ROOM!!TA is the one who does the grading. He's a pretty chill guy plus he's really hot =)
