Comment:

A lot of people don't like Dr. Maloy. I get it. Comp 2 is a gen-ed, and she makes it hard. People are bound to complain because you can't float through her classes. If you're not just looking to float, though, she's a great professor. She actually cares about your writing and, if you put in the effort, you'll end up a better writer.

Comment:

Kelli Maloy is obsessed with her PhD. She is assigns nighty homework that she never ends up grading, but she still collects it. Her grading criteria is made up as she goes, even though she posts rubrics. She has gone back on her word numerous times, and when students as questions in class she belittles them. Would never recommend her to anyone.

As an English major, the work load isnt that bad for an intro class. It was pretty much what I expected a literature class to be like. However, if you dont like to read, dont take the class. There are pop quizzes from time to time and just reading summaries will only get you halfway at most.

You can tell she puts in a lot of work and wants you to succeed. It isnt easy, but you will leave there a better writer and more accountable human. Real talk.

Dr. Maloy is definitely not the easiest professor, but she is one of the smartest that I've had, she knows what shes talking about. You'll have several papers due through the semester (including: rough drafts, edits, final paper etc). She's really nice if you aren't rude. Just do your work, hand in your papers, and don't fall asleep.

Dr. Maloy is a very intelligent woman who takes her class seriously. She sets crystal-clear criteria for grading and assignments. Follow her directions completely and you'll be fine. She likes people who participates and you definitely NEED THE BOOKS. You use them every single class.

Not the easiest professor, but I truly believe that my writing has improved after taking this class. You will always be working on something for her class, not very much homework but a 5 page paper will be due every 2-3 weeks. She is nice if you aren't an ass to her, do your work, and don't sleep in class

If you are debating taking this course, please imagine this: An assignment is due, and she has given no guidelines, but the number of pages required. Then when the paper is returned to you she writes it does not meet requirements. Also goes over comma worksheets almost EVERYDAY. Not joking, seriously, schedule for a new professor.

Awful teacher. If your opinions/interpretations differ from hers, they're dismissed, or she twists them into what she wants. This includes papers. Expects way too much of her students, assumes everyone in her class is not just taking the class because it is required. Would not recommend under any circumstances.

Like everyone else said, she's tough and she rips your papers apart..but hey, at least she's reading them. She springs pop quizzes when there's a lot of truancy. I was her 'pet,' got A's and B's on everything and she only gave me a B+. No curves here...avoid her unless you're on an English track: Then she's pretty helpful.

Very very demanding. Rips apart your paper and criticizes it heavily, nothing you can do is right. Class worksheets are just busy work. She is not helpful if you go to see her during her office hours. I would not recommend her at all.

Would not recommend this professor. She grades way too hard and expects way too much of her students. Did not provide any kind of study guides for exams, so everything we read and took notes on was pretty much fair game (which was alot). Would avoid if you want to keep your GPA up.

If you honestly want your writing to improve I highly recommend enrolling in this professor's class. She grades strict, but it's for the better and she allows her students to attend a personal conference before final drafts are due so that all major errors in an essay can be addressed and improved on.

She was a really great instructor for comp, learned a lot about writing and style. pretty demanding course but it helped later on. I really liked her but she is definitely not one if you just want an easy grade like some other comp profs

Do you enjoy having free time? do you like not worrying whether you will fail every assignment? do you hate feeling like an idiot? if you answered yes to any or all of these, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. never will you pull as many all nighters in a single class as her's. Hardest 4 months of my life.

When you ask a question, she looks at look like you are retarded. She rolls her eyes and makes scoffing noises when students ask totally valid questions. Don't expect higher than a C unless you are perfect, or Diana Hacker.

I tried so hard in her class. I literally came to every class and those I did not come to I let her know well in advance. I paid attention in class and participated. I even sought her personal opinions on papers and worked forever to perfect my last paper. Apparently she felt it was only worth a C. Truly a terrible teacher, avoid her at all costs.
