Comment:
Dr. Armitage is very passionate about his subject but his lectures can be really tedious. He expects a lot of participation from students and doesn't mind having long silences until people speak up. It makes for a very disjointed lecture flow that's hard to take notes on and follow. Very strong democratic socialist view of the world.

Dr. Armitage is really passionate about his subject material. Participation is a huge part of class/grade (20% participation 20% attendance) and you WILL need to read the book to keep up. He doesn't hide is political leanings but he encourages you to defend yours, especially if they differ. 2 tests, 1 essay make up the rest of your grade. No HW

Armitage is a great guy once you get to know him. He's unapologetically with his opinions and doesn't hold back. Despite this, he is very open-minded and encourages everyone to participate in discussions regardless of your position. Some of stuff he says can be hard to hear because he is brutally honest, but at least listen, will learn a lot.

I've taken a lot of Humanities classes at CSM. His style of teaching is similar to the 4-year institutes. He's not going to treat you like a baby. Have a tendency to be lean right but he loves disagreements. The man is great.

Easy! PARTICIPATION COUNTs, had ZERO test or quizes throught the whole semester. Literally for the first 2 to 3 months ZERO assignments no hw,he simply just TALKS,no power points, no one takes notes and everyone, including myself just goes on their phone for the whole time. He is a strong liberal and he likes to bash trump. 2 essays the whole sem

He's a really nice guy. I took both IR and Intro to PoliSci and there was only three graded assignments. Never had to do a multiple choice test, just essays that he gives you a really long time to complete. He really encourages discussion in debate which can be fun but it can also stir the lot. Not the most organized lectures.

Don't take his course if you're at all interested in LEARNING political science. He spends class time stating his liberal political opinions as fact and lets students do the same. Don't get me wrong I'm liberal too, but I want to be educated, not fed propaganda. He hadn't given one lecture or assignment halfway through the semester so I dropped.

DONT TAKE ONLINE! He sucks at computers, I feel like I learned nothing and he doesn't care. He anticipates that his students will screw up and makes you feel like crap. Only grades 1 mid, 1 terribly hard essay, and 1 final. This kind of grading makes me anxious. This was my last class to take for my degree, and he made it as hard as pulling teeth.

He is arrogant! His books and his lectures were about his liberal point of view. All rants, especially from Parenti's Democracy For the Few book. Not so much about the government and unbiased political matters. Textbook fonts were too small. Final test is 100 questions from all the chapters read from day-1.

I'm warning you now, don't take him for PLSC210 online. He only administers 2 exams and 1 research paper. Though it seems easy, he doesn't interact online. There is no specific website. Everything is through web access, and isn't tech savvy at all. He seems better in class than online.

Easy class. Engaging professor. Show up to class, participate, and do the reading. Test questions are based on the book and are multiple choice. Easy grading: 80-100 = A, 60-80 = B, etc. The lectures can contain factually inaccurate info, but student fact checking is encouraged. If you can't pass this class, you shouldn't be enrolled in anything.

Great professor, very opinionated. Just stay on top of the reading and take notes. I took this class as an evening course and it only cost me one day a week although if i could go back I'd probably want at least to meet twice. also when writing papers understand it is a college course so you may be graded stricter than you are used to. Good Luck.

Secrets to success for this class. 1) Show up and give your opinion. He greatly values people who give theirs regardless of if he agrees or not. 2) Read the book. His tests are not based on the lectures but based from the book. If you can do those two things you will do very very well

I personally didn't like his way of teaching. He doesn't write notes on the board, non at all, so be prepared to listen up and take really good notes. Also, READ the book.
