The lectures that Lawrence conducts are often enjoyable classes for the time you are there but, they have nothing to do with what you are being tested on. Attendance is mandatory, the tests require in-depth reading for the textbook he wrote, and 2-10 page papers graded by subjective T.A.s that don't have no problem giving F's. Don't take this class

Comment:

Took COMM 22 and COMM 129, I learned pretty quickly that he gives back to each student what he feels like he is getting. Let him know that you do care about class and he goes out of his way to help you succeed (participate in class, go to office hours). Wonderful educator, but you have to be willing to do the work.

I really enjoyed the class, he was an awesome prof. The only negative thing i have to say is that the class was graded pretty harshly for the type of work we did. But over all I would definitely recommend Rosenfeld.

I had Rosenfeld for Comm 120, he was funny and relaxed in large lecture class--easy to listen to. I found the subject matter interesting, but I'm not one to put in a lot of effort in classes.. I tend to read the textbook only before quizzes/exams. His quizzes were a LITTLE harder than average, final was NOTHING that I expected. I got lucky, passed.

Lawrence is a great professor, entertaining, hilarious, but also extremely well versed in the subject. Anyone who says he doesn't teach never gave the class a legitimate chance. Best class I've had so far.

Nice guy but... he does little to actually TEACH. Class time is wasted by his stories and waiting for the students to talk about the material. He does nothing to help you learn about concepts, he just gives examples. Take him only if you can learn from the book by itself, as the lectures will only frustrate you.

Professor Rosenfeld has been the best teacher I've ever had. He's very passionate about social work, is extremely knowledgable, and he will go out of his way to help you. Class time is interesting. Rosenfeld is hilarious. I definitely recommend him and I hope to take another class with him in the future. Work load is very manageable.

I loved Lawrence, his classes were funny and you benefit from going to class. Get close to the TAs who grade and they will help you so much. His multiple choice are tricky, but if you read the chapter you'll be fine. The essays are easy and your grade depends on the grader. Great class, i loved it

This guy will work you hard like no one else--but it's all worth it, since his classes are not about random knowledge but about practical skills you'll be able to use in your other classes (especially how to think, write, and speak your mind). He's there for you in office hours, too. Don't be afraid--take him!

I loved this class. Lawrence is very fun and entertaining. The quizzes can be difficult, but you should be fine as long as you do the readings. I had little interest in the course prior to taking it, but will probably take another class with him.

The information and class sessions are not hard to learn or understand at all, but the the way they test and grade makes smart people get bad grades. They grade very strictly.The class is really boring; one day you have to pretend that you are a rosebush. If you can get out of taking it, you should.
