Comment:
General relativity makes for some very interesting, but rather difficult material; and this fast-paced course was no exception. With that said, Dr. Zane provided the opportunities to better understand the material through solid lectures, examples, and availability outside of class to help fill in the blanks. Recommended.

He expects you to read the book before lecture and do a lot of work on your own, so his lectures are pretty much just going over example problems. Gives a quiz almost every week with a similar question to the homework (homework is not graded), and curves grades very heavily. Smart professor, but not great lectures. Study and DO THE HOMEWORK!!

He doesn't do a great job lecturing. He briefly covers the concepts then starts doing examples. Since we have no background its hard trying to follow what he's doing and understand how he arrived at his solution. He does however provide the solutions for the hw on his website which is helpful. But the tests are hard. Plus side, he curves like mad.

Great teacher! Does all the math for most problems and has a helpful website with solutions to homework so you can work through them. Tests can be a little brutal but there is a great curve that corresponds to each class. I'm definitely glad I took him for Physics 181.

Dr. Zane knows his stuff. He's lighthearted and energetic, so his lectures are far from boring. From all the horror stories I heard about the difficulty of this class, he made it clearer than I could have hoped. He really knows how to teach.

This class made me work. He works out all the math in class which is usually hard to follow. He provides study sheets that actually help you work your way through each section. Instead of a final, we had a project which actually allowed for the use of curiosity and creativity. I felt like I was finally learning what a real physicist does.

Black hole physics is obviously hard so you can't call him easy. His tests are very conceptual so it is hard to remember what it is you were doing again. Very funny and helpful
