Have to go to every class because there is a quiz everyday. It is all memorization and he put asterisks next to the notes that will be on the quiz (it's still a lot of memorization). You also are graded on your class participation, which you write on a piece of paper and turn in at the end of class. Bottom line, you have to be willing to work.

The tests are pure memorization and geography. Don't bother buying the textbook for World Civ to 1650, it's never used. Prepare to invest most of your time in this course. This course is perfect for the student who paid for college in order to teach themselves the material. Be prepared to use Blackboard frequently. A laptop is recommended.

Talks very formally, rambles A LOT. No need to take notes in class: just sit there & pretend you're listening to him. He's a nazi with the attendance. Each quiz require too much memorization: includes geography & some dates. History majors would love his class. Those who aren't into history, this class will take up more of your time than you think.

I had Fr. Nicoll for World Civ and Historiography. Since I don't like pouring over notes I actually preferred the latter class. I feel like non history majors would prefer him, which is actually refreshing. Very unique and funny man I took so much away from his knowledge. He may seem cold, but once engaged he is attentive and friendly.

Fr. Nicoll is one of the smartest people I've ever met and at times very funny. Attendance is mandatory. There is a 40 question quiz every day, but no tests and a 20 point participation grade every day. He's is challenging, but you learn a lot.

extremely easy everything that will be on the quizzes is on the notes and then the final and midterm are all of the questions that have been on the quizzes so you already have them all..NO BOOK is necessary everything you need is in the notes which he posts on Blackboard

I have had some classes with Fr. Nicoll, and I must admit that he is insightful and consice in regards to what he teaches. He will tell you exactly what he wants you to know. However, he grades hard with respect to class attendance and participation. If you're looking for an easy A, I don't recommend taking Nicoll. He may not even give A's.

Fr. Ncioll is a very nice person. However, he is also extremely difficult. If you have him for T122 class, get out ASAP!!! Daily 40 question quizes and mandatory participation will do you in quickly. The 40 question daily quiz counts for 40% of your grade and the mid-term was 300 questions.

Very nice, helpful man, but extremely difficult teacher. The test questions were so specific, and participation is MANDATORY, meaning if you don't speak in class, you WILL fail the course. And he doesn't give A's, so the highest you will ever make is a B, if that.

He is such a nice, super intelligent professor. You HAVE to go to class, you have to study for the quizzes, and you have to raise your hand. But the course overall is pretty easy. The midterm and final are the quizzes put together so its just about memorizing the answers.

This is an easy class if you read your notes ahead of time. Quizzes are easy, and the finals are the quizzes put together. If you participate and do basic studying, you'll get a good grade.

Nicoll is a sweet, old man. He is prob a genious of history, a prof. that actually knows what hes teaching. quizes everyday verbatum from notes & final and midterm are exactly from quizes he gives back with right answers & same order. All you have to do is memorize for quizes and participate=A. missed class=oral quiz makeup in off time.

Fr. Nicoll is one of the best professors there is! He is one of the sweetest guys ever and truly cares about his students. He requires a daily quiz and participation, but that isn't hard to do if you study any at all. His sense of humor is great and he has a real passion for his subject. The man knows EVERYTHING about history. I love his class.

Fr. Nicoll is SUPER smart. There are quizes every class that counts for alot. Also, ask questions.. He loves that; participation is another big part in the class. His two exams are exactly like his quizes. So if you keep up with them, you'll be fine.

the book didn't come in until a month into school. he told me to just follow along and catch up on the 250 pages i missed over break. needless to say, i could not keep up in a class that requires you to bring up at least one very good, very relevant point in class for most of your grade. also, he's all about "documents" and their analysis.

Fr. Nicoll is a history computer. The amount of information in his brain is incredible. He stresses vocabulary and it was fitting that the last word he said to me before I graduated was "Indubitably". A great man and a great class.

This man is fantastic. His humor is one of a kind. Class is piece of cake as long as you study what he specifically tells you to. No stress at all. I only wish he taught every class at Loyola.
