The tests were based mainly on lectures with only a few questions coming from the textbook (which you can find free online). Attendance is not mandatory but absolutely necessary as most test qs come from the lecture material. Contrary to other reviews I thought he was very open to comments and questions and was overall pleasant.

Dr. Simms is an okay professor. I did not enjoy this class. He complained often that our class was TuTh the entire semester. He often went over causing us to be late to class. His exams were oddly specific. It was hard to achieve more than 80 on an exam. He taught from the DSM-IV extensively even though the DSM-V came out in 2013.

Leornard no longers gives in class assignments btw. Your grade isbased on 3 test and 1 paper. His test are very confusing at times especially the first one. The first TEST was 60% history of clinical psychology. Which may seem easy to you, but when random facts appear on the test it kinda screws you. Be careful A students this class is not easy.

This prof. Rambles on, isnt clear and his tests are meant to confuse. On top of that, he is sarcastic and patronizing when I approached him about some confusing material in class. Answers questions like youre stupid for even asking. No one wanted to ever raise their hand in this class. Def avoid.

I really enjoyed his class. Probably one of my favorite lecturers I've had. I personally found it completely doable to get an A because I did work really hard, although a lot of other students in my class didn't do as good but I don't think it has to do with the professor because I didn't find the tests challenging. Study hard and you'll get an A.

Other than the need to participate for almost every other class which can be burdensome, his lectures are informative and he really knows his stuff when he answers questions about his clinical experience and the course content. He can be quite funny sometimes and he really wants students to do well in his course and when they go to grad school.

Forces you to participate during lessons using a form sheet to hand in at the end of class, you need to participate at least half of the whole sem. Otherwise he's a very helpful lecturer and the examples he gives are interesting and easy to understand!

I really enjoyed this class with Dr. Simms. He's extremely knowledgeable, personable, and cares about the success of his students. Sometimes the material was boring and tedious but the tests were fair. I definitely recommend this course if you're a psych major!

He rambles a lot about things irrelevant to Clin & Counseling work. Spends too much time on stuff like reliability and validity, which is already covered in Stats. Easy class, but he's dry and gets too off topic - wasted 1/3 of the class away. Wish someone else taught it because it could be a great class if done right.
