Comment:
He is unorganized, unclear about expectations, and over-complicates EVERYTHING. Do not attempt to answer a question in class - he will always say you're wrong. Get ready to read his unpublished, wordy, incredibly confusing self-written textbook. Avoid this class if at all possible.

Comment:
Hayduk seems like a nice guy BUT his lectures were all over the place. The published textbook is straightforward and easy to memorize but his personal unpublished textbook is confusing and he tries to make social psych a lot more complicated than it needs to be. Half of this class was basically learning about testosterone. Wouldn't recommend.

Comment:
Dr. Hayduk uses big words and complicated theories to try and connect social psychology to the "formal world". In reality, he is just over-complicating the subject. Don't take this class if a) you want an interesting class, b) you want a good prof, or c) you care about sociology or psych. Exams are easy, though.

Comment:
It seems like Dr. Hayduk has good intentions, but this is not a good sociology course. He lectures on his unpublished book and uses the extra time to explain why a published textbook is incorrect. By far the most boring class I have taken, and not great if you are looking to boost your GPA either.

Oof is all I have to say. Lectures were very dull, he lectures off his own unpublished textbook. This textbook is like this: easy to understand the words being used but once you have read a couple sentences you have no idea what he is trying to say. He is too abstract and tries to be too philosophical

Comment:
The required text from which he doesn't teach is the one that's gonna boost your mark cause it's all about memorization whose concepts are easy to remember and understand. His material is boring, unpublished and sometimes just so unrelated to sociology. Pay attention to what he argues about because he tests that.

Decent GPA booster with a relaxed grading scale (76% B+,80% A-, 84% A), but it felt more like a bio class to my liking. Lots of reading, about 200 pages combined between a traditional psych book and a new psych book for each midterm. Trad was easy to read and memorize while new book took awhile to read and understand the point of it.

Absolutely baffles my mind how unorganized his unpublished readings and additional notes are. At this point I have given up even trying to get by in this class.

I so badly wanted to enjoy this class because Les is such a sweet guy. But... I felt like I was taking a bio class. You have to read required textbook (makes sense), read his unpublished material (makes no sense), then explain why his material is better. He says that we all feel frustrated because he's trying to get us to think so deeply...

Be prepared for this mans Unpublished textbook (Which half your exam is written on). Although he's a relatively nice professor his lectures are absolutely the most dry things you will ever attend. His unpublished textbook is written in such a confusing way that you absolutely have no idea what's going on or what will be on the test. Goodluck

Worst prof I've ever had. 50% of test material is based on his "unpublished textbook" which is over complicated, boring and basically taught me nothing. There's a reason his textbook isn't published. Treats this soc class like a science class. He is pretentious and critiques all ideas other than his (including the other assigned reading).

He tried to make the course unique but it came off more as disorganized. He critisizes the required textbook, asks questions just to shut down everyone's answers, and is unclear when teaching.

Really didn't like this prof, he was very condescending and teaches out of his own textbook while criticizing everything else. He acts like everything is revolutionary and thinks everyone else is wrong. He talks a lot about neurons and brains but not scientifically. Lectures were very rambly. But it is a VERY easy A as tests are not hard.

This prof was honestly the best prof that i've had so far. It's an easy A as long as you read the material. His exam questions are really straight forward and as long as you read it's easy to understand the concepts. A 4.0 is an 84% in this class. 3 multiple choice exams. The only thing is you have to read the textbook and his lecture material.

Initially I really didn't like Dr. Hayduk's lecturing style and I had trouble sitting through his lectures, but you get used to him. In the end, this class is extremely easy - all multiple choice, clear what content is going to be included on the exams, and a very lenient grading schedule in my opinion. Not the greatest but an easy A.

Please, if you like sociology, do not take a class with Dr. Hayduk. He's a sweet man, but he talks more about his teaching method than actually teaches. Lectures are 90% criticizing the mandatory textbook and asking unrelated rhetorical questions while staring for lengthy periods of time as if he expects our minds to be blown. All over the place.

Lectures were really hard to sit through and after the first few I stopped attending. He posts lecture notes and the text book is very easy to follow. If you read up, you'll do fine! Just don't waste you're time attending class if you don't have to.

Pros: Probably the best prof. I've ever had when it comes to having students understand material. Cons: He teaches through repetition. Simple, mindbogglingly boring repetition. He is the most effective and most boring prof. you'll ever meet. Assignments focus on applied Statistics, tests focus on the theory.

If you think you are interested in the topic DO NOT take this course. His lectures are boring and rambly. You mainly cover the material from his draft textbook but you still need to purchase the other text as well. We talked a lot about neurons and the physical bodily functions and nothing about actual social psychological concepts. Take PSYCO241

He's actually amazing, favourite prof by far. I was scared to take these class because of all the bad rating but ended up loving every minute of it! LOVE HIM, these ratings below don't do his teaching any justice.
