Linda is the best teacher I've ever had. Her tenacity at pulling the very best work from every student is not for everyone, but if you want to learn and are not afraid to sweat for it, she's for you. I would take every Lit/Comp class with her were it possible. She is a true professor of a caliber not found often at SPC.

Dr. LaPointe is the worst professor I've ever taken! I've heard classmates call a professor terrible, but I've never had a truly awful teacher until I had her. I am a straight A student, and I've never struggled like this. The last day of class she determines your overall grade so you never know how you are doing in the class until the final.

Wonderful professor. Tough and honest grader, but you'll walk out a much better writer. She gives you her personal email at the beginning of the course; if you ever need to reach her this is the ONLY way. Pay close attention to assignments, don't be afraid to get creative, and participate in class. If you have any questions, ask them immediately.

She's definitely tough, but if you stay on top of assignments, and she sees that you are trying your best, it is very much passable. Make use of her office hours, take her revisions to heart, and don't be lazy/procrastimate, because she will not put up with that. Personally, I thought she was a very interessting and funny professor.

I worked really hard in this class. I showed up every session, helped other students with clarification of assignments, but only earned a "B". She is extremely tough. Do not expect much help from her in class. You have to schedule an appointment after class. She doesn't use mycourses or respond to any emails. Good luck if you take her

Prof Lapointe is an amazing instructor!!! Any student that says otherwise is plain lazy. She will bring the writer out of any student that tries. Her comp I class is a portfolio class. This means that you complete the assignments, she checks them off as done, and you put them in your portfolio for your one and only grade. This is college not HS.

LaPointe is a teacher that makes you work for every decimal point of your grade, if you can't handle that, don't take her. At first, she mad me furious because she destroyed my papers in revising, but eventually I realized she made me a better writer and for that I have to thank her. Definitely recommend to anybody who is up for the challenge.

She's a bit forgetful... other than that she's a great professor. She gives good feedback and has a no bull attitude so if you're looking for a class to goof off, don't take this one, but if you're legitimately looking to excel then this a great professor to choose.

if you aren't an intellectual don't take this. its honors so she expects you to come in and write for her. it like working for a newspaper in the way that you write a piece hand it to her and she finds errors you correct the errors and she finds more. if you don't know how to write steer clear. if you do, this will sharpen your skills immensely.

Not a sham class. Expect to turn in assignments. As long as you turn in your papers on time and allow time for revisions you will receive the grade you earned. She really is a great teacher as long as you act like a college level student. Took for comp credit. 1 research paper of my choice and 1 analytical essay. Great understanding teacher!!

While she is tough with grading she is passionate about what she is teaching and you will learn a lot in her class. I really liked her so I'm not sure what all the complaining is about. She is kind of eccentric but that keeps it interesting. The final research paper is pretty difficult but it was challenging in a good way.

Lapointe assigns homework every class day, yet the homework is done for no points. Students have to turn in an analysis paper and a research paper at end of semester. Students research paper also have to be a boring topic that she chooses that you won't be interested in writing at all. Don't waste your money on Lapointe. Get a teacher that cares.

She's trigger happy to fail people. She also seems to think that being unapproachable & a tough grader makes her a good professor. She's intelligent, but light years away from being down to earth. She doesn't actually teach, and if I ask her a question in class she shoos me away & pretends to look busy at her desk. Had to do back flips to pass.

Do not take LaPointe for Comp II. Students are assigned a research paper and multiple analysis papers. She expects perfection and is not clear on what she wants. She also assigns homework galore BUT the homework won't give you points in the end of the course. The only grade is the two final papers. You will regret taking this class.

Professor LaPointe is a great teacher if you already know how to write well and trying to perfect your skills. However, for writers still learning. She does not provide a lot of teaching on how to write. She goes through your paper and just lists all that you have done wrong . Only provides one on one help if you see her during office hours.

This was not an easy class. However, it definitely helped me to become a stronger writer. I felt much closer to perfection. Do not take this class if you cannot handle a standard of excellence. DO take this class if you wish to fine tune your writing to a near professional level.

If you are only taking one other class and want to work hard for your grade then take LaPointe. If you have multiple classes you will be working very hard just to pass her class. She is consistently late, but won't forgive you if you are late even if you have an excuse. She isn't consistent in what she wants from your paper either. Turn back now.

This teacher is a maniac. She is inconsistent and really rude. This class is insanely difficult and she will even advertise in the beginning of the semester that the class may need to be taken again. Showing up and doing all the assignments DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU WILL PASS. Do not be fooled.
