Prof. Sherling is one of those teachers where you have to teach yourself.She will speed through sections, skip over other sections and get stuck on sections.Sometimes when she does examples on the board she gets confused and stops.You do not learn the material unless you have time to learn everything on your own.Going to class is a waste.

I agree with what the person in the Honors class just commented (and I know who u are!!!!). She is super hard, and you would suffer a lot. In return, you would learn many things at deep levels. Studying with her is like studying at Ivy League schools. If you can pass her class, you would do greatly without a drop of sweat at Universities.Guarantee!

Math is the most easiest course if u can get the concept. Dr.Sherling is one of the most helpfull professors who puts a lot of effort on her classes. I found her honors Math class really chalenging . If u want to learn math take her class. Dont forget to work hard . GOOD LUCK

Comment:

The only reason her ratings are so bad is that she is a hard teacher. Dottie is a wonderful teacher who cares about her students. She wants to make sure everyone gets the materials and is willing to help. Very knowledgeable in math. Grades stuff fast. Explains well and goes deep into the fundamentals and origins. Recommended but hard work required.

Professor Sherling is the best Math professor I've ever come across. She is the the kinda of professor that puts herself into her work and puts herself into what she teaches (because professors can teach without being interested in what they're teaching). She expects those in her class to put in effort and thats what I appreciate the most about her

U read about those model teachers who helped their students 2 achieve? She ISN'T 1 OF them. If U have 2 deal w/ her -- b prepared 2 b yelled @ & screamed @ 4 no reasons. Don't think just because u follow the "standard" protocols & politeness u could avoid her B____ behavior! She gives math teachers & women a bad name!

Her tests are very hard but all questions are straight out of the textbook. Another but is that there is alot of homework. there is no scantron tests but she does give partial credit. It's a hard subject and a hard teacher. She is very nice though and will always help you after class.

I am taking Dr. Sherling now. She is very nice, but the lectures are boring. She just talks about what u will learn in Calculus, and talks very little about the material in math 2! tests are easy if you study the textbook and do the homeworks FOR SURE! she does not collect HW but the test questions are exactly the same as HW.

I earned my A by reading the book and asking other instructors for help. Sherling can't explain, her classes are boring. Her ability to convey math concepts is near zero. You will do better in her class by showing up for tests only and avoiding getting confused by her lack of knowledge of the subject.

be prepared to read the book 3 times over to do well in her class. she can not convey concepts to save her life. it really is a time saver to just not go to class and spend that time reading the book yourself. she also expects you to regurgitate what the book says rather than have you understand concepts and put them in your own words.

Professor Sherling has no structure in her lecture. The notes she gives are very unorganized. Students are better off reading the text book and doing assigned homework. Tests are fairly easy and she does drop lowest test score. Overall, easy class if you do the work.

Dr. Sherling is an excellent teacher.. Ignore all the negative comments written about her. Although her class are slow/ boring, she is a person who wants you to advance into the next class and will help you to make sure that happens. For all the people who placed negative comments, they're slackers just complaining cause they ended with a D or F.

Her class is quite difficult and boring. It doesn't take her that long to return the exams as the others are saying! The tests are fair but the subjects make them difficult. All you have to do is to sleep in the class and study at home! That is the way to get A! By the way, in her class you either get A or you fail! So try to get the A ;)

JK lol got ya guys. Sherlings class is actually unorganized and boring. I like math but nver seen it get so boring when tought. O she doesnt give u ur test back for a while lol. U have to try very hard to get a A. gETTING a B is ideal in that class... unless ur a slacker. Her class quizzes and tests are very interesting has multiple mistakes.
