Though she seems intimidating, she's a very nice and helpful woman. Very strong-willed and will argue, but that doesn't mean you can't argue back :)Overall, I loved the class and learned a great deal. She cares about her field and sharing it. She's also very kind;having gone through some difficult times, Dr. Holmes was supportive and caring.

Very demanding, brutally sarcastic, and not at all afraid to use public humiliation as a teaching tool. Skillful, intelligent, helpful, and hysterical, but DO NOT take Greek from her unless you are extremely serious about learning the language. I was not, and it was one of the worst experiences of my academic life.

The thing she wants most is for students to succeed in the subject and put the work into class so that they will be able to enjoy it their whole life. If you do everything she says, you'll do fine...she's been teaching so long she knows what works. Intro classes are demanding but great prep. Sometimes scary-always amazing. (Took multiple classes.)

Good teacher but you must earn her respect and prove you deserve to be in her class before she will ease up on you and stop drilling. Be prepared to work and enjoy off the wall humor. I loved her but she is an acquired taste.
