She allows you to audio record in her lectures 'cause she talks fast and there are no notes on her slides, just paintings, love that she gives the historical backgrounds and the meanings. Laptops are allowed but do not bring smelly foods, take a nap or use your phone during class, she will call you out. 1 essay 700 words, 1 midterm and final exam.

She is so political. Warning for international students who are not major in Art History should NOT take this professor. She do not teach material in the class which is going to be examine in mid-terms and final and expect you to it by all yourself. ALSO there is no textbook for the whole semester it means everything depends on her lecture,

I've had Lynn a few times. Possibly my all time favourite prof (even though not my highest grades!) Prepare to be challenged and inspired. Way beyond just art history; Lynn brings in ample theory, philosophy, anthropology, sociology etc... I could listen to her all day! Such a wealth of knowledge. We are very lucky to have her at Langara.

I love Lynn Ruscheinsky! Her lectures are engaging and filled to the brim with information. She makes the study of history accessible, and heady theoretical writing applicable and interesting to the average student. She cares about her classes, and loves to engage and get to know people. Every class I took with her was amazing. Sad to leave.

The material wasn't too bad nor the workload. Sitting in her class for 3 hours was torture, all she does is read off notes, doesn't engage and has favorites. Impatient and egotistical. Don't take her classes unless you have to

Great instructor with an amazing understanding of art history and philosophy. Her outfits are always on point and her hair is very pleasing. Make sure you pay a lot of attention in class and show her respect. Speak up when it is time to talk as participation is very important.

Her lectures are very full of info, listening/ taking notes is where it's at. She has clear guidelines for exams and essays, and is a fair grader with constructive criticism. You must work in her class-it will be challenging- but that's the point. Initially intimidating but returns respect, is kind. Her enthusiasm for topics is contagious.

Knows what she's talking about. Great feedback on essays & exams. Valuable Langara resource - she should probably be teaching at a more revered institution in Canada or elsewhere. Best prof in terms of enforcing rules about attendance etc & therefore makes me feel like life's fair a little bit. We are lucky to have her.

One of the best teacher! Inspiring and encouraging! I love her idea of self discipline. If you want to follow her course, spend more than two times of your class time Off class. Like her attitude and energy. She gives a lot respect to students. Recommended for sure if you try hard.

She gives informative, usually fascinating lectures, but there's so much material that she whizzes thru. We didn't end up "officially" covering some of the last few art movements (There was an optional extra lecture). You need to go to every class. She tests on her lectures. She does often read historical background from her notes, but it's okay.

THE BEST. I took the once a week, 3 hr class, and would be captivated the entire time. She lectures with passion, enthusiasm, and humour. So knowledgeable. Be ready to take notes LIKE CRAZY, but you won't really need the textbook at all. Super clear on her papers and images to study for exams. Loved her I'm already in one of her other classes

40+ Images to cover in 3 hours, Jumps all over the place with her information, Assigns 25+ Images to memorize for her exams in which she only chooses 4 for comparisons (lovely.). She seems to think she's a English or Writing instructor. She's a nice enough woman, but the class is a joke. Tested Purely from un-follow-able lectures. So much hate.

Took Art History with her. Prepare to take a ton of notes quickly, as she talks fast. She is, however, receptive to answering questions whenever you might have them. Also easy marker. Seems very scary when you first meet her, but listen in class and look over your notes and you should be fine. Also don't buy textbooks, she doesn't use them at all.

I found her lectures hard to follow as it jumped all over the place. She did not use the textbook at all, and her exams are entirely based on her lectures. Her exams were ridiculously hard considering how her lectures were not easy to follow AND there was no textbook to help understand the material.

Unreasonable workload, weekly papers in a second year course is bad enough - but a very difficult marker despite following instructions to a T. She's fairly nice, but has a huge ego - telling us that she is a "public figure" in Vancouver and was vocal about how hard it is to get an A in her class. However, she DEFINITELY knows her material.

LOVE the layout of her exams - in class comparative essays, title, artist, year are provided (know everything else about the work!) doesnt make you memorize the entire workslist. AMAZING prof, a little crazy, very opinionated, lectures intense(LOTS of notes) but you will take away a lot, would take all my AHIS classes with her, love her approach

Basically Lynn is amazing. I went into her class having no knowledge at all of art history but I'm glad I did. Her lectures were extremely informative and interesting and saved me in some of my other classes (especially Religious Studies). I specifically freed up my schedule so I could take another one of her classes this coming semester.
