Comment:

Took this class as a way to get ahead of my core, however, professor was overbearing, gave too many assignments. The most papers I've had to write thus far in college. Overall, would not recommend the class, professor is rude, does not care about her students and made several people cry. DO NOT TAKE.

Comment:

Loved this class! It is a lot of note taking and participating thoughts and ideas about the subject manner. There were 2 tests and several project papers but were very doable! Expects a lot from the work you do but it is not hard! Final is a group presentation that you have class time to work on! Recommend!

Professor Porter does a good job of teaching the class. Knows her stuff. Lots of group projects. She's a pretty fair grader as long as you know something about what you're doing. Doesn't always explain her criticisms of your work. Good for core.

Would not take it if I had a chance, but it wasn't that bad. It's an ok art to take for core. You have to watch two plays and write two response paper. Super tough at grading, tougher than my english prof. If you don't have what she wants on the essay, you don't have good grade and you won't know what she wants. Does give instruction but still

I was really excited to take a Theatre class, but she made me dislike theatre! I'm a minor so she liked me but I still struggled. The first half is boring but it gets more interesting. Don't take this unless its for your major/minor. She can tell if you're a nursing major and think it will be an easy class, so she deliberately makes it hard!

Good professor- not an easy A though. Do the work, participate, show interest and actually try and you will do fine. You learn a lot and can use what you learn out of the class. Extremely interesting and fun, but be prepared to actually work.

Wow. This was the worst teacher I have ever taken at Fairfield University. You would think that a theatre history class would be relatively easy if you study. You are WRONG. She gave everyone in our class an F except for one person (theatre major). Ended up with a B- but worked hard to bring up my grade.

Prof Porter is a great teacher! She is passionate about theatre and very helpful both in and out of class. Very approachable and down to earth. Decent amount of work; fair grader; I would recommend her whether you love theatre or not; if you do, it's just that much better. Can't wait to have another class with her!

Porf Porter is an AMAZING teacher! she loves the subject and helps you to love it too!! tough grader but fair. i was nervous about taking this class when i was placed in it as a freshman but i loved it! i held off on taking another fine arts until next fall so i can take another one of her classes! definately take her class if you can!!

HORRIBLE PROF ! You think it's simple for an Intro to Th. class, but she's a complete physco w. grading. It's impossible to pass her tests no matter how much u study, and you won't pass her quizzes. Out of the 25 ppl in the class, only 1 person (th. major, she LOVES him) got a good grade. AVOID taking her, it seems easy but ul kill urself for a C.

This teacher is HORRIBLE. She will only give you a good grade if you are a theatre geek and participate in Fairfield's plays. You can literally study so hard and end up failing the tests just because she wants to fail you. The content isnt hard at all but she makes it ridiculous. DO NOT TAKE.

i absolutely HATED this class in the beginning of the semester. as long as you show up you'll do fine. i got a c+ on the first test and a's on everything else for the rest of the semester and ended up w/ an A. you hafta write a play which sucks and for the final you act out someone's play from the class. not that bad tho.

Class is mandatory, but it does fly by because it is always group activity. Spend a lot of time doing our group projects because she grades them ridiculously. Gives you the questions to tests on syllabus. Grades ridiculous, but does curve at the end. Thought i was going to get a B, wound up with an A-
