No attendence and no homework so your grade is off of 4 tests and a final. there is no motivation to work however he is a fairly easy grader so i still made an A.

Byrd doesn't do any homework so all of your grade is based off of a few tests so if you're good at linear algebra this is an easy class but if your bad your grade could tank early. So because everything is based on that lectures, him working problems in class is important.

Dr. Byrd is a very nice man, but is an incredibly difficult professor. He teaches by example and tests off of those examples. You HAVE to teach yourself. He doesn't give any assignments and he doesn't use black board. Your grade is souly based off of tests. If you struggle with math, avoid him at ALL costs.

His syllabus is about half a page, because your entire grade consists of 4, HANDWRITTEN tests. There isn't a list of topics that will be covered, he only uses the textbook for examples. You never know what chapter he is on. Prepare to have all of the antiderivatives memorized. He is a nice man but his teaching style is wacky.

He is nice, sometimes. Considered using a graphing calculator a calculator that "does calculus" and doesn't let you use it. Very old school. Just does examples in the book and expects you to know what you are talking about. I had to teach myself everything on the tests.. (p.s-- you only have 4 tests and a final that counts toward your grade :-) )

He knows what he is doing but when explaining it to students will skip over what he expects you to already know. Not very good at answering questions. I would recommend that if you are NOT good at math get a tutor.

Class is tough. Tests are even worse. Final is the worst one I've taken in college. The fact that I even passed the class is nothing short of a miracle. 4 tests and a final is all your grade consists of. Find someone else if you can.

DO NOT take Byrd. I had him for business Calculus and it was terrible. I'm not excellent at math, but I am a goodsmart student with a good work ethic. We were a chapter and a half ahead of every other class, very fast pace and no slowing down. He teaches math using the hard way around for EVERYTHING.. and forgets how to work problems. Tests SUCK

Professor Byrd is a great teacher. He may be boring at times, but he is very clear and writes great notes. He tells you what you need to do on the tests. The tests may be hard, but if you work plenty of practice problems they are very doable. Just takes a lot of practice. I enjoyed this subject and class.

Professor Byrd's teaching style is not for everyone, but I found I liked it. He does not want to hold your hand through the material, which is refreshing because he doesn't waste time explaining things to every single person, which can be frustrating to sit through. If you're confused, meet with him. His exams are a breeze if you just do the work.

Knows what he's talking about, but hard to follow sometimes. Doesn't handle questions well. If you can keep up with him and do the homework it's not bad.

AVOID HIM if at all possible. A terrible professor. He is very unwilling to help and rude. He is not very good at explaining things. Do not take him unless you are already good at math b/c he is tough, and so are his tests. Homework is optional.

Probably the easiest math teacher at UTC. Teaches exactly what is on the exams. If you study and do your homework you will get an easy A.

Very Good Professor!! He gives 4 tests and a final, no homework. The final replaces your lowest test grade if needed. He works many problems in class so be sure to work them along with him. It helps, trust me. He will pretty much tell you what will be on the tests. Definitely recommended.

Unclear. Only works from the book. Nice outside of class, but still not very helpful. He teaches the whole semester like it's a review. Monotone. Boring. Tests come from problems relating to the book. Good luck knowing which ones. Fast pace. DEF NOT RECOMMENDED

Do not take his class as a starter class. He isn't very helpful and doesn't like to explain how to work out problems. He will stop the entire class if he sees someone using a laptop. He won't say anything; he'll just stare at them until they notice him. He is unforgiving so try to get on his good side if you can.

Funny teacher. If you have any aptitude for math you will like his Diff Eq's course. He has a very somber way of introducing new materials, which shows in his often wearing of sweatpants to class. He is not hard of hearing or very difficult to comprehend. Definitely recommend taking him!

Interesting guy. Wears sweatpants. He knows math but sometimes has trouble "dumbing it down". Like all math professors I have seen, he has trouble interpreting students questions, or even hearing them sometimes.
