She had a lot of knowledge on Geology but would always go off subject during her lectures. The study guides do not prepare you well for the tests. You get extra credit by attending class so def. go. Boring lecture. You MUST read the book but not even that will help you on the test. I passed because of my lab grade. Go to the BearCLAW.

Melida is a HORRIBLE Geology 110 professor. I ended her class with an A because of her attendance policy and because I did well on the first 2 tests. The class is lecture heavy and she rambles about things A LOT. 3 regular exams with 1 final. final is not cumulative. Attendance replaces your lowest test score (up to 90%). AVOID if possible.

Terrible oratory skills for somebody who makes attendance mandatory. Most of the information on provided study guides is not found in lectures despite their taking over an hour. Do not take this class if you are not able to learn almost entirely from a textbook and to teach yourself.

Lectures seemed to drag on. She tends to get very side tracked and off topic. Using the powerpoints as a guide, you should be able to do ok. Tests are hard. Don't miss class. Accent is somewhat thick but one can understand most of what is said.

Professor Gutiérrez is a solid choice for your lecture teacher. Attendance is kind of mandatory it replaces your lowest test score, and the final isn't cumulative. The tests are difficult and she does engage with "trick" questions so beware of those.

She seems like a nice person in general, but oh my lord her lectures are so boring. Seriously the most boring class I have ever taken. They drag on and seem to be all over the place, as she seems to jump from topic to topic and writes random things on the board. The tests aren't easy and you aren't really graded on much else.

She wasn't too bad, but the class seemed to drag on. Luckily sitting there and writing down a few important things, then doing more work out of class helped me pass. The extra credit was also nice since your attendance makes up your lowest test score.

She isn't the most interesting lecturer, but if you go to lectures you can get a good grade. Attendance is optional but can replace your lowest test score. She also gives easy extra credit quizzes. I never read the book, attended lecture and lab and took notes, and studied a few hours before tests and got an A. She is also kind and willing to help.

Dr. Guiterrez is such a kind person, but I would never take her class again. I read the chapters and attended every lecture, but still failed every test, which I normally get A's or B's on. I had to drop before the end of the semester or else it would have brought my GPA down a whole point. The questions seemed to come out of nowhere on the tests.

She is a very nice woman and I have a great amount of respect for her. But the tests are tricky. I've been to every class and study. I'm a straight A student. Take a different class because everyone around me had a C or D and only one person I knew ever got an A on a test. Again, she is sweet but nobody knows what the heck is happening in there.

Great teacher and easy class if you try. Tests cover a lot of material but questions are taken directly from lecture notes which are posted online. Attendance is not mandatory but if it is good, attendance can replace your lowest grade. You can also receive extra credit for going on a field trip, doing weekly quizzes, or making a power point.

She is a great professor, she covers material really well and explains everything that i see on the tests, however her accent does confuse people sometimes and lectures are pretty boring. She's not one for jokes but she definitely knows what she is talking about.

I feel like she holds us responsible for way too much information for a Gen Ed class. I could not get better than a B on any of the tests. Difficult class. Her accent is also sometimes hard to keep up with.

A lot of students in my class were getting 70% and below, as low as 40%, on the tests. This is a 100-lever class and that shouldn't happen. Also, she refused to cooperate with me on the matter of attendance (I had to take a two-week leave for mental health) and I had to withdraw from the class, otherwise I would have failed and lost my scholarship.

Gutierrez was a great professor! It took a week or so to get used to her teaching style, but it's that way with most teachers. She really knows the subject matter and is readily available and willing to answer any questions. I was originally not all that interested in GLG, but now I'm thinking of making it my major because of her!

She is very nice and friendly. Sometimes she rambles and talks about things that are not relevant to lecture. However, she does offer plenty of extra credit and your lowest test score can be replaced with your attendance percentage. So if you show up to class every day, you will get a 100% on at least one test. Just go to class and you'll be fine

Excellent professor. Good pacing. Not too fast to understand, not so slow that she's boring. Explains things very well. Offers several extra credit opportunities. Quite friendly. She covers everything on the test multiple times during class. Replaces lowest grade with attendance. lets you skip final if you have a high grade. highly recommend her!

She is a very interesting teacher. She gives lots of materialbut it is straight foward and helpful. Use the power points to follow along with and take notes along with it. I never read the book and did fine. Just start studying a week ahead. I suggest making flashcards. There are lots of opportunity for points and extra credit. I loved this class.

Gutierrez likes to ramble and scribble incomprehensible sketches on the board. Your attendance replaces your lowest test grade. No comprehensive final. I wouldn't say she's a hard teacher, but she isn't a good teacher. It doesn't help that her class is sauna and everyone falls to sleep. From what I've heard she's the easiest GLG110 teacher.
