Comment:

Most reviews on here are from intro to Earth Science students. Obviously you haven't had her in class anywhere else, if you find an intro class difficult, why are you in college?? Marcia Schulmeister is actually a great professor and very compassionate towards her students too.

Comment:

attendance is not mandatory but she will call you out in class if you are gone. She says things like "where were you?" or "we missed you" in a really snarky manner. She also does not grade assignments at all. Honestly I didn't think the material was that bad, she just made this class boring and awful for everyone involved.

First of all I did not use the book until she ran out of time for the course and made us learn 8 chapters BY OURSELVES for the final. She tests you over material she did not teach and lies about what she is going to put on the test. She offers extra credit but will not grade it until the last possible minute. If you try to email her she won't reply

If you are really interested in Earth Science, then you will be fine in the class. She knows a lot about her area, but it is a lot of information. She won't let you get up to go to the bathroom during class ("Umm are you okay?"), and will yell at you in front of the class if you miss, and if you email her you better have a good excuse.

Comment:

She's passionate about the material, but she seems out of touch with how students learn these days. Her lectures are hard to follow, because she turns the lights on and off almost constantly, making you want to fall asleep. She is not true to her word when it comes to tests, including questions on material we didn't cover or she said wouldn't be.

I thought teachers were actually supposed to teach and not brag. Although she does mean well, the comments on papers, face to face, and over emails are are extremely discouraging and make me think i'd fail in the real world. She definitely does try, but being late, discouraging, and not all that helpful are all signs of a below par teacher.

The previous comments are spot on. She goes very quickly, lectures non-stop, and does not make the subject matter easy to relate to or learn from. In fact, she makes it harder. Somehow you will be doing math and chemistry in earth science, and learning it on your own. The GAs are your only hope. Steer clear from her class, if you can! GPA will hurt

had her for lab and lecture. her tests where really hard and she was kinda wierd. lab was way easy you can get the GA's to give you the answers.

This professor does lecture alot, but all the information she gives you is needed to understand science. Awesome teacher, with broad knowledge. She was always willing to help and/or stay before or after class to help students. Awesome teacher...easy class.

This class makes me want to slam my head against the wall. Somehow, she has managed to make material for a general education earth science class sound like advanced physics. If you have to take this class, for your GPA's sake, get a different teacher.

The class blows....literally. She lectures everyday and most of the time, she goes so fast, you can't get the notes down. What she calls a "review session" doesn't prepare you for the test at all. If at all possible, get a different teacher.

She does not do anything in class except LECTURE! She also does NOT take constructive criticism at all. She is a nice enough person but does not give you any help in preparing for a test. There is no review sheet and the session doesn't help. BEWARE
