Bierner was an amazing professor and he really cared about his students, but didn't stand for any BS. He took pop attendance and about 20% of the grade was just showing up for class and discussions. Although most people thought that his exams were easy, I had to work for my grade, but I thoroughly enjoyed this class.

really sweet professor! his tests are based off of the ppts. He answers all of them during class. If you phase out during lecture, you can find answers in textbook or go to him during office hours. exams 30-40 mc. can be tricky

One of the worst lecturer at UT. His classes were boring and long, he basically read the exact same thing from the ppt. The exams were really detailed, and our TA graded the exams pretty harshly. Our exam averages were in the 60s. He curved at the end. Most people ended up with a B in his class.

There seem to be a lot of polarized opinions about Bierner. Honestly I love that on the first day he said attendance isn't mandatory. I almost never showed up and got an A, but that took a lot of extra effort. His lectures are fine but very boring. I always fell asleep when I did go. Tests were okay. Class overall was fine, I liked the topic anyway

This guys lectures were terrible. So boring and the tests were hard. His TA's were also the most useless TA's on the planet. They are VERY HARSH GRADERS and were no help at all. I would take another professor if I could.

This man was one of the most disrespectful teachers I have ever had at UT. I went to his office to seek his help and he called me "clueless" and told me to drop the course. He didn't even TRY to give help me succeed or do better. I never thought he was a great lecturer, but I at least thought he was respectful until I went to his office. AVOID him.

Professor Bierner is one of the best professors at UT! He has such a passion about teaching biology that he made the class very interesting! As long as you go over his powerpoints you will be good to go for the tests. He is very clear on what he wants you to read and know for the tests! I definitely recommend taking him for BIO!

Bierner was one of the best professors I've had. His lectures were always filled with humor while at the same time being clear-cut. Tells you what you really need to know for the test. Take his class.

He's funny and makes lectures at least somewhat interesting. Teaches from powerpoints which are posted online, and tests are pretty easy.

Amazing guy. The best thing about this class was how friendly and approachable Bierner was. I didn't really pay attention in lectures, but the class wasn't too bad. Discussion quizzes were a super easy A. His tests are not too bad, but can trick you occasionally. Just make sure you keep up with the material and you should get an A, no problem.

Bierner is a really nice professor who genuinely cares about his students. He can be funny at times but his lectures are dull most of the time. His exams are easy and right out of his powerpoint. There is no homework but there are weekly quizzes in discussion. Study the powerpoints and you'll do well on the exams.

Best bio professor i've had yet. Very nice guy and knows alot about his field. His exams are all multiple choice and are difficult but fair and you know what to expect. He grades them the same day as well. No hw and he gives random easy pop quizzes in class. By reading the book, using is notes, and some studying making an A is definitely possible.

He is probably one of the best BIO 325 professors you could get. Attendance is NOT mandatory but he gives pop quizzes which aren't too hard. His lectures are pretty boring but if you can manage to pay attention he explains the material very well. His exams aren't hard at all as long as you know everything on the notes. DEFINITELY recommend!

He is very boring in class but it is TOO easy to get an A as long as you read his printed notes that are word-for-word from the powerpoint lecture slides. Read the book for extra clarity, he goes straight from it. If you need any help, he tells you exactly what you should know. Highly recommend if you don't mind attendance!

He's really nice but he is SO BORING! I get NOTHING out of lecture and wouldn't go if attendance wasn't part of our grade. Definitely a teach yourself type of class. Good thing is that the tests are not ridiculously hard and he gives you notes for lecture. The tests go off the notes and it's not completely impossible to get an A.

Very fun profesor, tests strait foward from the lecture and doesn't put any sneaky material in, labs are field trips to various beautiful parks and other nice places in austin. Only real hard part is memorizing scientific plant names, but becomes relatively easy once you get the hang of it.
