Comment:

Dr. Cohane made world literature my life. I'm going for a master's now because of this class. So much of the literature was inspiring: Achebe, Brecht, Rilke, Voltaire, Proust, Frankl, Leslie Marmon Silko, and Dr. Cohane's lectures made that clear. In fact she was so inspiring that I used her name as my gmail password for three years.

Professor C. is one of the kindest and most sincere professors I've had the pleasure of learning from. Her approach to teaching is different,only in the sense that she relates the text back to real life, which is great. The readings in her class are rather short, but the parts she picks out are meaningful and enlightening. I 100% recommend her!

Dr. Cohanes approach to grammar and writing has made me grow as a writer and person. She takes the time to individually help everyone and cover each topic discussed thoroughly. She has taught me how to coherently write a paper and not dread it. She is extremely knowledgable and helpful. She is the best professor I have had at MCLA so far.

I'm glad i took this course, though World Lit. Survey involved more reading than any class i've ever taken. Professor C's lectures explained the culture and history around the readings, though, so i could understand them. She loves creativity. Choose a creative option for your paper.

I was convinced I couldn't do poetry. And I want to be an English teacher. Dr. Cohane showed me I could do it. She assigned a lot of work, but read it carefully, and taught me A LOT.

Professor Cohane is consistently late to class. Every session boils down to a desultory lecture on whatever she feels like talking about, regardless of its relevance to the text. Cohane frequently assigns entire books for one day's lecture and then barely talks about them. However, because she is so lazy it is very easy to do well in her class.

Comment:

Cohane is extremely negligent towards her classes. She is consistently late, does not modify her erroneous syllabus. She does not seem to prepare for class but she still fills class time talking about anything she wants whether it relates to the text or not. Amidst these irresponsibility, however, she is a very tough grader with unclear policies.

Comment:

Cohane is certainly an ex-hippie off in her own world, but it makes classes interesting. I love her class. She showed me that I'm a great writer. Class discussions were fun! Just make sure you DO THE READING, otherwise you will fall behind bigtime. Also, she's a flaming liberal and sometimes takes shots at republicans. Besides that, she's great.

This teacher is a very nice outgoing person. She cares about the lives and opinions of her students and tries very hard to be reasonable. she is alittle eccentric, but that makes the class more interesting. if people have mean things to say about her, its probably because they are not very nice people.

I could not be happier with my experience with Professor C.'s class. Incredibly enthusiastic and helpful and genuinely interested in the opinions and ideas of her students. I honestly don't have enough nice things to say about her class.

I'm the TA for College Writing II this spring semester and students are telling me how much Professor C has helped them. I was also a student of hers my freshman year of college and she was very helpful and attentive whenever I had a question regarding the subject matter.

In response to a thesis I wrote, she actually said "that is something republicans say." She doesn't let her students have an opinion. It seems to me that the majority of these ratings were written by Cohane, since the language is similar in many of them. It's worth staying an extra semester to take writing with a different professor.

She brought in a new world of insight,as well as new info from our readings.She is a passionate and dedicated woman that anyone would be lucky to have as a professor.
