Comment:
We were constantly falling behind on the syllabus. She lets students aimless talking take over the class. Obviously understands Nietzsche very well, but tried to do too much with so much of his work that we didn't cover much at all.

If the test of time is the ultimate measure, I can say that 15+ years after graduating Prof. Clark is the most influential professor I had in my 4 years at Colgate. It's a tough course, she shredded my papers more than anyone in my tenure there. She is a huge reason why I look back and value my Colgate degree. Thanks Prof. Clark!

I took a class with Professor Clark last year and it was one of the most important and interesting classes I have taken. She is one of the foremost Nietzsche scholars in the world and it shows. She is very difficult, but very fair. If you are interested in Philosophy and want to be rewarded, take a class with her. She is also hilarious.

Comment:
Probably the worst professor I had. I sympathized with her struggle with diabetes, but she took poor measures to control it(never had a backup sugary snack and exercised late in the evening)and often fainted in the middle of class. No tolerance for challenging her ideas. I also sensed she was there to better herself academically, not the students.

Comment:
Clark is a bit eccentric but if you are willing to put in the work, you'll get a lot out of her upper level courses on Nietzsche or Kant. She doesn't put up with BS so you need to do the reading and do some serious thinking. If you seek help she will go out of her way to meet to discuss over coffee. Patient, honest and passionate best prof ever.

One of the best professors you could have. But be careful, she will ask you to question the world as much as she does. If you are not ready or willing to do that, do not take her class.

Most evil professor I have ever had. She thinks she is the most intelligent woman to walk the face of the earth and she is condescending to her students. I graduated several years ago and she still stands out as my worst professor at Colgate.

Difficult at times, but not particularly unclear. While not recommended for Intro or Ethics, more advanced philosophy students will find that she is clear, intelligent, and provocative. My current understanding of philosophy is deeply indebted to Prof. Clark's ideas.

These other reviews of prof clark are unfair in my opinion. she is extremely laid back and passionate about her views (which she imposes upon the class -she gives oral exams which are much better than long papers or exams.good class discussions interesting to watch her mind work and questin herself

Horrible. Did not understand a lot of what she was saying. When I asked for help she was very condescending and made me feel like an idiot. Boring. Very high expectations (tough grader). Worst professor I have ever had at Colgate.
