Max is by far the best professor I've had at Washtenaw. She's funny, friendly, and truly cares about her students! Show up, do the work, and if you read your writing out loud in class, she'll love you forever. I would definitely take her again.

Comment:

Respects students but this is by no means a blow-off class. Students must do the work but the learning that takes place is amazing. Approaches creative writing within the framework of not only structure style but substance and chooses great pieces of literature to use as examples.

From the first day, Max inspired me so much to write whatever I feel. She's the best teacher I've ever had and really cares about her students. She has a great passion for writing and it really comes out in her teaching. Was such a pleasure to be in her class. Wonderful teacher!!!

Saying that Max is an easy A, isn't really fair. She expects you to do the work. If you put effort into the discussions, as well as the papers you have to write, you have a good shot. That said, Max is an amazing person and instructor. You will learn in her class and she'll give you an appreciation of Lit even if you didn't want it.

Shes a wonderful women. She's very nice and helps you when needed. The only reason why she's an easy A is because you do a lot more hands on and discussions in that class. She's highly recommended by many counselors, teacher, and students. She also makes you feel like your there and brings the best out of you. Max is great.

Amazing teacher who gets excited about the pieces her students create. She is also very protective of her students and demands a positive learning environment i.e. no laughing at fellow students ideas, stories, etc. Most of all she wants you to enjoy the class and takes you and your efforts as serious as you do.

Max was an easy teacher. Just do your homework and you'll be fine in the class. If you go to her with any problems, she's super helpful and right on top of it. She may seem a little frazzled, but she definitely helps you when you need it.

Max is an amazing teacher and a wonderfully empathetic person. Her class has a lot of writing in it, but it IS a writing class, so that is to be expected. She is not at all condescending. She is also not all butterflies and flowers. She appreciates dark pieces of writing. She has a good attitude. What's wrong with that? I love her.

I cannot stand this teacher. She talks like the world is just sunshine and butterflies and, as somebody else said, she's condescending. The way she says "do you understand?" is as if we're all stupid for not. Her class is VERY touchy, she wants to know "how does this make you FEEL". This class made me hate writing; before it was my whole world.
