I have had two classes with Mekeel long ago. I was inspired by her honesty and ability to be both transparent about her personal life and at the same time remain a bit of a mystery. Mekeel had a way of getting me to say what I really wanted to say but had filters on. I thought that if she cold write 6 books, at least I could do 1. I published 1

Mekeel McBride was my favorite professor, and she is the best editor I've had the priviledge to work with. She taught me so much about writing by helping me edit my poetry, and those skills bled over to my fiction writing. I learned more about critiquing and writing in general from her courses than anywhere else.

Prof. Mekeel McBride is a wonderful professor! She is encouraging to all of her students, and is a brilliant, established poet. She makes classes interesting and the work is manageble. She is probably my favorite professor, and I look up to her so much!

Meekel is great. She is very understanding and VERY laid back, never checked our "homework" and was open to everyones ideas. She is the easiest/best professor I have had yet.

This is not a "class" where you learn anything. You just sit around and commet on other people's poems. i.e. "Gee, I think you need a comma here." It is a total gut course. The instructor says hardly anything, but giggles occassionally. Very silly course. One poem due a week you can write it 10 minutes before class and get an A.

Mekeel is GREAT! She is supportive and has helpful advice. The class is FUN and not hard, but not too easy either - you are definitely challenged as a writer. I have taken her classes 3 times and they have been by far the best I have taken at UNH.
