Comment:

Summer graduate course for web development 2, was prepared to work hard but unprepared for how hard was required. Weekly programming along with discussion and 7 chapters from 2 books respectively, plus 3 semester projects among other other homework assignments throughout. Didnt give any instruction for most assignments and vague requirements.

Great professor. Connects well with the students and provides useful insight into developing your future. Take everything negative that he says about you as constructive criticism and develop yourself instead of getting sad.

One of the most genuine teachers I have had in my entire school career. You can tell he loves his job, cares about his students and knows what he is talking about. The assignments can be difficult, but if you need help he will gladly provide it.

He is very well educated in COSC. He is sometimes good at explaining the lectures but as far as projects, he doesn't really make it clear what he wants. He is confusing and is a hard teacher. He is passionate about the course so if you see him outside of class and ask questions he will go in greater detail.

I can honestly state Flinn is the worst teacher I have ever had. I have made the Deans list before and in since returning to college in 2012 have never not passed a course -until I ran into Flinn. He is not clear If I have to figure everything out why is he getting paid? I wasted 6hr /wk of my time in his classroom

I took this during intercession and it was a lot of work. I was constantly busy and the assignments weren't easy tasks. You had to download a open source operating system which took all day. Would sometimes not be clear in the directions so it would take longer to do the assignment. I would not recommend taking this class during intercession!

Comment:

Flinn is a great teacher. He goes over a lot of information in class so taking notes is a must. We had no quizzes, but test are moderately difficult. He gives no study guides, but if you study your notes you will be fine. Homework is simple 50 mult choice question per chapter, labs are a little tedious, and he usually doesn't go over it.

He gives a lot of projects for class but as long as you complete them you will do fine. Show interest in the material and don't be afraid to email him with plenty of questions because he is always willing to help you figure anything out. He IS tough at grading but provides extra credit so an overall A is possible. You will learn a lot from him.

Mike Flinn, atleast for my class, seemed to have favorites. He seemed to pick on a few kids that he didnt like, and a few that he did and went the extra mile to help. Dont text/facebook in class and you will be fine. Over all he was a great teacher for 101, and I learned a lot.

Mike Flinn is honestly one of the best teachers I have had in my lifetime. I had he greatest pleasure being in his class. He is the definition of what a college prof. should be. He was harsh but at the same time caring. He isn't the teacher that will just pass you, but he won't want you to fail. Take him for COSC 101 for best experience.
