I really enjoyed professor's Holland class. Lectures are interesting and informative. You will learn a lot. The class is about historical Jesus. Something they won't teach you at Sunday school! Very academic approach to Jesus, and Christianity. Definitely recommend this class. U can youse notes on all midterms, and finals.

Comment:

He's a nice guy and is passionate about what he teaches. However, there's very few assignments that he grades, so not many chances. He does offer extra credit, and there's two reports you have to do on houses of worships. Lets you use notes and study guides on exams as well, however, write down the things he says in class that are not in the notes.

You have to be interested in religions to get through this class. Very straightforward 3 hour lectures, one religion each week. Must visit 1 eastern & 1 western house of worship, talk to someone and write a paper on it. I recommend taking notes with a laptop and writing down most of what he says. Open note tests but a lot of minor details on tests.

This is the first time I dropped a class and it was all due to Professor Holland being one of the most boring professors I have seen. The subject matter is very interesting, unfortunately he presents it in such a dull fashion. He primarily uses PowerPoint and just reads it for the entire 3 hour session. Avoid if you want a interesting teacher.

No book needed, no hw, only 2 short papers. Gives study guides and open notes for tests. Show up to class, take good notes, you'll get an A. I enjoyed his class because he's open minded with every religion and likes input from students.

This guy is a PLAIN BAGEL. open note tests, which are great, if you can actually sit through one of his classes. the guy is nice enough, but bland enough to make you dread sitting in his class for three hours looking at a powerpoint.

great teacher i would have to stay. hes also a pretty fun teacher if you pay attention that is. i wouldve gotten a better grade if i didnt ditch class. but hes quite cool. no need to use your textbook and open notes test. perfect!

Life & Times of Jesus...class is incredibly boring & long. taking good notes is a must. you get to use it on all tests, but he talks so much therefore you write so much, you get lost when searching for answers in your notes. get familiar with notes. one book report. grades to his liking. u can argue and fight it but he won't budge. boring class.

Not just an awesome professor, but a really interesting guy as well. His Life and Times of Jesus class is fascinating if you can pay attention in a purely-lecture style class. It's absolutely imparitave to take good notes; but it's not that hard to because you can buy an outline of his lectures. This class is great if you want to test your faith!

Holland takes the chronological approach to each religion- what happened when. Some people may appreciate this style of teaching, however I found it very hard to connect with. i took his Life and Times of Jesus Class. Great teacher. Has a great sense of humor. I wouldnt recommend this class if you don't like someone mesing with your beliefs (if you're Christian or Catholic). It will mess with your head, but you'll learn a lot. Take good notes!!!!!

As long as you dont have a problem with taking notes for the full 3 hours. this class is cake. The tests are sinchy if you took good notes. There are alot of idiots in my class that dont do well, but seriously if you can take notes you WILL get an A or B. Mr Holland is really funny too and he looks like William H. Macy
