Comment:

The professor is terrible and will make you write tons of outlines for no reason. I highly recommend that you don't take this course. If you don't mind reading and writing this is the course for you. The tests are stupid as well.

This woman made me feel the worst I have ever felt here at MSU. Not only was she unclear about her assignments and uncaring about her students, but she was also just not a good lecturer. I had the wrong book for a month bc she wrote "11" instead of "II" or "2." She didn't care. I stressed for a month straight about this class until just dropping it

I took her for art history and she is lecture heavy. For the midterm she tells you one thing and then gives you something else but it is still possible to pass. I went in thinking I didn't know anything but knew more than I thought. BUT PAY ATTENTION IN THE LECTURES AND BRING THE BOOK TO CLASS EVEN THOUGH SHE SAYS NO OR YOU WILL BE LOST. Average.

I had her for an online class so I've actually never met her in person before. But by the looks of how she runs the class, she gives a lot of readings. Read the chapters and additional readings and write outlines on them. Just look up art history slideshows on SlideShare, that's what I did to pass (which I did LOL). Met paper. Be prepared to read.

At first she was really intimidating but as the semester went on I realized how full of information and credible she truly is. It's good that there are many grades for this class. Requires a midterm, final exam and 3 trips to NYC along with 3 papers regarding the galleriesmuseum.

Best teacher I've had at Montclair. I hated modern art and never understood philosophy. She's a wealth of information. I wish i could be her friend she's inspiring. There was 1 museum visit,4 essays. The readings were difficult but we reread out loud in class and she's explains. She does seem cold if you approach her after class.

I loved Mimi.She knows about everything.Museum visit required,4 essays and outlines of the required readings. The readings are tough but we read them in class again and she explains. I've approached her after class and she has a wall up,like students r trying to get over but non class related topics she warms up. I learned a lot.

roughly one written assignment and one short reading per week. one museum assignment. she re-reads the entire reading with you in class. very simple. lets you re-write all papers for higher grades. absolutely no reason not to get an A or a B in this class, BUT definitely a tough personality. can be tough to get along with, NOT my favorite person.

Mimi's weird, but great! Appears standoffish at first. Reading is heavy (discussed in class)--you need to understand it to do well on the papers. She WILL help you to understand anything if you're actually making an effort. Weekly outlines are pointless; board notes can be confusing. It takes work, but I learned a TON in this class, glad I took it.

well, mimi is a modernist at heart. so she has very firm opinions. which is always helpful! personnally i enjoyed her no nonsense attitude. she is direct in conversation. honestly this woman knows more about the art community than i ever will. put your best effort in the class and youll do fine!

There are a few things to surviving her class: take excellent notes (they are much more important than the required reading), pay attention to the slides, have good attendance, and participate when you can... if you do the easy stuff and do somewhat decent on the midterm/final/papers - you WILL get a good grade.

Do not take this a summer class. Ever. Six projects, 100 bucks worth of**** you will never use again, a five-hour museum visit to find paintings that you will then have to write a really long paper about, hell hell hell. BEWARE. Also, she's mean, stuck up and has a HUGE chip on her shoulder about the seriousness of "art". WORST EVER.

HARD!Requires you 2 know spelling of 1st & 2nd Names of the artists! and marks it wrong if you mispell on exams! 2 exams, 3 gallery visits. Book is useless. None of the slides are in the book so its impossible to study for her exams and do well. U have to spend time searching the internet to find artworks she taught or doodle images in your notebk.

She's actually a nice person, but I don't think she's a good professor. She's vague and unclear about just about everything. Her grading doesn't make sense. Actually, nothing she said made much sense. The worst thing was that she made us read out loud from the textbook like we were in elementary school in every class. Take someone else if you can.

I learned a lot from her and truely grateful, especially when I was not interested in the coarse in the first place. Comment:

As far as I'm concerned mimi is the best professor at montclair. She is the most intellegent, well spoken, and put together women I've ever met. Use her as a resource and absorb everthing that she says because it's all important. Good luck!
