Comment:
he is the hardest person I have ever taken for an online class. He does not know how to work canvas, he does not help you one bit, he just gives you things and makes you do them. Tests are nothing like the powerpoints as well. YOU WILL TEACH YOURSELF IN THIS CLASS.

He was unreachable. Barely ever responded to emails. It felt like he just gave random numbers for grades. I would receive comments saying "excellent work" and get a 40/50, with no additional feedback. He doesn't understand how to work Canvas, and he is an online professor so I am really not sure why they trust him to use the internet.

For an online class in which office hours were made by appointment only, he was very hard to reach. If I ever had questions about the class it took a week to email me back, after whatever assignment I had emailed about had already passed. If youre going to teach an online class, there needs to be a better way for students to ask questions.

Messes up all his slides, gives vague information. I don't often hear students complaining but when I do, it's about this dude.

Comment:
Be ready to teach yourself. Don't even think about relying on feedback from the instructor, he rarely responds to emails & they are incredibly delayed / do not address your questions when he does. Grade style & expectations change by assignment. Completing all tests/ papers & taking discussions seriously are imperative to pass. Avoid if possible.

Dr. Ibelema is the worst professor on grading that I have ever come across. His grading technique baffled me as his personal opinion. He rejected my topics by saying that they weren't news worthy when all of my topics made the news and were featured on 20/20, USA Today, and Nightline

I've giving a lower score solely because he is hard...he's a nice but difficult professor. He can be difficult to understand but as long as the room isn't noisy, you'll be fine. Listening and taking notes are key. He doesn't really reference the text much...until test day. Definitely read up because THERE WILL ALWAYS BE TEXTBOOK QUESTIONS with him.

Not organized at all. His feature writing class was a mess, expect for a lot of your time to be wasted. Has a lot of experience but is not good at turning that into something students can learn from.

Dr. Ibelema is a great professor. You either understand his teaching methods and love him or don't get and hate him. He can be difficult, but he maintains a high standard needed for the field. This class was interesting and carries over into other courses needed. He teaches it well and all you have to do is show up, pay attention, and participate!

Some people had issues understanding him, but I never did. Fun class...he shows a lot of videos. 4 tests, midterm, and final, and only best 3 tests count. Really nice guy with a laid back class. Learn the notes he gives and the take home questions from the book and you will get an easy A or B.

Dr. Ibelema is such a great professor. Some people had trouble understanding him, but I had no issues. Also, his tests were extremely easy. His class is the only class in college I've gotten a perfect score in so far.

Comment:
The class had a lot of interesting aspects, but Mr. Ibelema some how found a way to make those boring too. He is not clear about what will actually be on the test, and the way that he administers his tests is very unconventional. He puts the test on the over head, so everyone has to pretty much go at the same pace.

Comment:
This class is not hard. I would suggest getting the textbook, but it doesn't have to be the newest edition. He told us to get the 9th and I had the 8th and there was basically no difference. His tests only had 25 questions so if you miss more than two you are automatically at a B which can be annoying. He is funny, but can be hard to understand.

Dr. Ibelema is awesome! Take him, take him, take him. He gave us 3 papers, 2 lit critiques, and no tests! He likes for you to get published and I am so glad he does because it opened my door to new possibilities. I'm taking him again next semester can't wait. He cares about writing and his students and will help you any way he can.

Can be funny. Likes to hear himself talk and doesn't like answering questions. Not so clear on what you should follow more: the book or his lecture/notes. His tests went between both (even when he had different answers than the book for the same thing!). He's a nice enough guy, but not specific on what he's looking for most times.

Gives good lectures and is very knowledgable. Funny and shows good videos as well as easy assignments. Take good notes in class and be at least a little familiar with the textbook and you will get a good grade.

He's a pretty funny guy. His accent is easy enough for me to understand, but I can see how that could be a problem for some students. I suggest reading the text book ... I haven't been doing that and it was harmful to my last test grade ... the good thing is, he drops the lowest test grade (so it's good to keep that in mind).

Other than the constant use of the phrases, "huh?", "Sha, right?" and "no kiddink?" he's a pretty good professor. He's not the best in the department, though.
