This class is a reflection of you as a student. Pay attention, don't skip, and take good notes you will have everything you need for an A. No homework, lecture heavy, and easy to understand. A lot of people fail tests, but a lot of people don't pay attention or engage with material. He will tell you exactly what will be on the test, WRITE IT DOWN!

Nick is an old fashioned guy. Tests were very thorough, but he gives every tool required to pass. He has the eyes of a hawk and WILL call you out if you pull your cell phone out in class. No homework but by god you better study your notes. Lots of drawing and written answers on his tests. Very passionate, very entertaining. He is all about respect.

Mr. Zentner is one the hardest grading professors Ive had. I expected a fun and hilarious professor but his jokes arent very good and distract you from the topic. From what I have heard, most students failed his class and he has a huge curve. He also strays away from the lecture to tell his stories from when he was younger. Do not take his class.

Nick is very funny and his teaching is great. His light-hearted personality makes the class fun. The work is not necessarily hard, but the quizzes and final requires studying. I only had him for the lab, so you might need to read other reviews for the lecture. At least for the lab, you should take Nick.

Nick is a great professor, his wit and sarcasm makes the class fun to show up to. He WILL cal you out if you're on your phone. He is a fair grader, and as long as you get the concepts and show that on the tests, you're good to go

GOOD prof, but talks all the time about "good note taking" which really means, "literally write down everything, even that random fact". Also, his humor is bad at best. He constantly stops class to yell at students who are not making eye contact, get up to use the bathroom, eating a snack. It's way more disruptive than the kid who is zoning out.

I really enjoyed going to this class. Prof. Zentner gives really great lectures and cares that you learn. However, I didn't understand how exactly to prep for his exams until the third/final unit as he covered lots of ground + didn't give study guides. Grading entirely based on some HW, 3 tests, and 3 quizzes. You WILL NEED to attend class to pass.

Loved this class and this professor. I had never taken a geology class in my life, and he made me excited to come to class every day. He makes his lectures like a story, so if you do miss class you'll miss a part of the story. Truly enjoyed his class and his teaching style. Exams hard at first but once you get the hang of it, it's easy 2 understand

This class was extremely difficult for a 101 class. I showed up to class every day, took notes, and studied my butt off. No matter how hard I studied, I ended up bombing almost every test. I'm generally an A-B student too. It was my first ever D in a class. I don't recommend!

Delivers very interesting lectures that force you to pay attention. Even if you're not interested in geology, Nick makes it interesting to learn about. The tests were relatively easy so long as you showed up to lecture and paid attention to lecture. He is pretty strict about his rules but it fosters a good learning environment.

His tests are really hard. They should make a rule that requires freshman not to take his course because I was in his class and always felt confused. I know he tried to help me but I was at a F and I had no way to bring it back up so I withdrew. I think he is okay lecturer I just didn't know how to study for his tests. I studied everyday and it was

This guy is hilarious! He's bluntly honest and has a very go with the flo personality. Clearly passionate about what he does which makes learning from him enjoyable. The final was tough, but all the other work is fairly easy. lots of group work too. Would recommend him for sure!

Zentner was super entertaining! I am in no way interested in Geology but I was always excited to go to his class. He has a somewhat dry sense of humor but as long as you aren't uptight he'll make you laugh. You really learn in his class and the labs aren't terrible. Highly recommend!

Kind of an arrogant guy. Can be very rude at times too. But hey, I have a B, so why am I complaining? The class is fairly difficult for a 101 class, and you really have listen to every word he says or you'll miss points on the exams. Take my advice and take 101 with another teacher!

This guy is great. My academic advisor highly recommended this teacher for Geol101. His lecture style is old fashioned but he makes it well worth it to show up every day. He is hilarious and works well with you if you are struggling with the class. As long as you show up and take notes every day, passing the class would be a breeze.

Best professor I have had so far. I have never done well in science but I am doing well in this class because Nick does such a great job at presenting the material. He has high expectations but the are definitely reachable if you attend class, and his classes are anything but boring. His passion for the subject shows everyday. Highly recommend!!!

Nick is easily one of the best professors at CWU. I took geology not expecting much but he made the lab extremely fun and interesting. About half the lab meets are field trips in the Kittitas Valley to explore geologic features. Nick cracks awesome jokes constantly but is very smart and knowledegable. TAKE HIS CLASS!
