Very unorganized. She is not that nice, she kind of just yells at all of us the entire time. Bad with presentation and staying on top of things. No structure to the class at all. Its like being in a high school classroom with an old annoying teacher all over again. But, the course work is not hard.

Nicolina has a big heart, and if you want to learn, she's 100% there for you. If you're ever feeling a little lost or you need help she is very understanding - you just have to ask. Her obvious love of Italian culture means sometimes she can get a little off topic, but if anything I found it makes lectures more personal and enjoyable.

prof lorusso is the worst prof i've had so far at umass. she insists that you don't buy the workbook to go along with the textbook because she'll give you the sheets you need, then she gives you like 4. BUY THE WORKBOOK. you'll need it since you have to teach yourself all semester. if you're looking to continue on in italian look elsewhere 4 intro

Oh Lord, she obviously has great command of the material but has some difficulty with organization and presentation. Also likes to scold her students like they are in elementary school. You might want to stay away if there are better options.

Nicolina, overall, is a good professor. Although she goes off on her wild tangents, that's what makes her fun. She can sometimes get in certain moods, but past that, she's a great teacher. She takes into account how much you care, and grades you accordingly. Also, she brings cookies to the final (as well as coffee). Major plus!

Nicolina is an enjoyable professor and I highly recommend taking her class. She will not only help you learn Italian but you will have fun in her class. She is there to actually teach you something and not just there to give you a grade.

Nicolina was a great professor and even now that I'm not taking her classes anymore we remain close friends. She knows how to reach out to you on a personal level and help you if you're having any trouble at all. Her clases were very enjoyable and I would retake them in a heartbeat!! She knows her stuff and has a great sence of humor.

Prof. Lo Russo-Dillon is a very nice and entertaining woman, and a pretty good teacher. If you do what's expected of you in class and seek help from her if you need it, you should be fine. I hated this class though, just because I don't enjoy the Italian language very much.
